Description The wind whipped around them in powerful gusts, sending dense clouds of snow into the air. Troi picked his way slowly through the gale with two of his friends close behind. He had wanted to show off this spot near his Mothers’ cave to Vliticus for a while, but felt it best to wait until his friend’s winter coat grew in. Fliz, on the other paw, found out about their little adventure by accident and all but begged to come along as well. The black dragon hadn’t objected to wanting Fliz to accompany them at all. In fact, he was delighted she could join in. He thought of this again with a smile as he stopped to let the other two dragons catch up. As expected, the wind reaped havoc with Fliz’s mane while she crept along. A big grin spread across her muzzle despite having to keep it tucked in close to her chest. The blue dragon squeezed her eyes shut against the wind which would occasionally make her wobble. Some small icicles clung to her chin and horns, but she didn’t mind. “You weren’t kidding about how rough it is up here!” she shouted. Troi leaned to the side when a particularly strong gust swept past and lifted his head slightly in satisfaction. “Thee, I told you thith wath fun!” “This is crazy!” Fliz laughed. Her brother stayed behind as well to keep her company or redirect the wind around her. Vliticus wasn’t being affected nearly as much, though his thick fur quivered against his body. Patches of ice had formed where snow was able to cling to him. The three dragons eventually made it up to the ridge where part of the old volcanic rim still remained. Fliz dug a depression in the snow to huddle in while Troi and Vliticus went a little farther to the very edge of the ridge. The black dragon gave his friend a sly grin and asked, “You wanna thee thomething cool!?” Without warning, Troi stepped out into the open air and hung that way as his body tried to fall. The fur around his legs, ears and horns trembled furiously in the updraft. “Thith plathe ith a real thrill for me! I wathn’t really sure you’d like it!” Troi shouted. The yellow dragon scoffed and also leaned out over the side of the ridge, fully suspended by the wind while his back legs remained on the ground. “Like it!? I’d be up here all the time if it weren’t so cold!” Vliticus began to rock from side to side to try and get some of the ice out of his fur, but soon determined it wasn’t working. He steadied himself again and slipped into a dazed nap with the wind cushioning him. Something made him wobble moments later. Troi was completely back on the ridge now, nudging Vliticus with one of his paws. The yellow dragon extended his wings and slid back onto the ridge before turning to face his friend. “Let’th go thee how your thitherth doing!” A few minutes later, they were searching the ridge for where they had left Fliz. “Hey you dorks!” Both dragons turned to see her squinting at them through the whirling snow, a big smile on her face. Fliz had become almost completely camouflaged with her surroundings. Most of her body was buried in a snowdrift, leaving her head and part of her tail visible. “You two went past me a couple times! Am I that well hidden?!” “You’re getting there!” Vliticus chuckled, leaning down closer to his sister. “We should th-tart heading back!” Troi shouted over the wind. “Ma’th gonna be up thoon! I don’t want you guyth getting in trouble with her!” Fliz carefully stood and shook herself off, though most of the snow was already blowing off her scales. “I wouldn’t mind doing this again!” she yelled, “This is officially my new favorite place!”
