It was awful. Fliz couldn't stand hearing her baby brother in such distress. She was particularly moved by how Vliticus wined and fussed no matter how their mother tried to comfort him. Being the oldest sibling, Fliz felt it was her responsibility to help look after her brothers. She didn't know what she could do to help in this case, but she would still try. Serina was laying down against the wall of the cavern's main chamber. The baby dragon was perched securely on top of their mother's front leg. His thick fur coat had become thinner and scruffier by the day. Even now, more bits of fur fell from his quivering body as he sobbed. Baby Vliticus looked up when he heard his sister walk over, perking his ears up with delight. For a brief moment, the young dragon forgot about being sad. he squirmed closer and happily squealed, "Fizzy!" More tears soon welled up as he rubbed his little snout through his sister's mane and shivered. "F-Fuzzy Fizzy." He looked worriedly at Fliz while his ears drooped for the second time this morning. Vliticus then cast his eyes to the piles of fur on the floor and began to wine again. Fliz turned her attention away from her distressed little brother. She peered up at Serina with concern. "I've never seen Vliticus act like this before. What's wrong with him Mommy?" "He's shedding, dear. Seems he's right horrified by it too." The orange dragonness sighed as she leaned down to nuzzle her son. "Oh dear. You poor little thing. Everything's fine, sweaty. It's only falling out for now. You'll grow it all back next winter." Vliticus trembled harder and squeezed his eyes shut. "I don' wanna!" The little dragon buried his head in his tiny paws and bawled. It was clear that seeing his winter coat falling off piece by piece scared Vliticus immensely. His crying drowned everything else out, and Fliz didn't even hear when Drex sat down next to her. He leaned closer and spoke softly in Fliz's ear. "Is he alright?" After explaining to the red dragon what was going on, Drex focused his attention on Vliticus with a more neutral expression. She watched her other brother watch their sibling in silence for a while. Suddenly, he scooted closer and gently nudged the baby dragon with his snout. With a surprised little squeak, the crying stopped and Vliticus opened his eyes once again. A small hiccup rocked his body as a smile shot across his muzzle. "Dee-Dee!" "Hey bud. What's wrong?" Again the little dragon looked at the cave floor with a sniffle. "My fuzz." he said longingly. Drex carefully pushed his brother's little head up again until they were looking at each other. "Don't worry about it dude. You're fine. It's only your fur thats falling out." The little dragon listened to every word his brother said. It seemed to be calming him down some. "It's not a bad thing really. You'll look like me." With that, Vliticus's eyes widened. He stretched out closer to his older brother and tapped noses with him. "Like... You?" Drex nodded with a grin as Vliticus cheerfully squealed, "Look like you!" His little ears sprang up as he scratched some of the fur off from behind his head. He then reached out and placed a paw on Fliz's nose with a giggle. "Look like you Fizzy!" Vliticus wiggled happily as his tail jerked back and forth. The little dragon reached out for Drex's nose as well. "Look like you Dee-Dee!" "Haha. Yes you will, and I'll be mighty glad to keep you warm until it grows back." Drex said before glancing at Fliz. She shifted her gaze between both her brothers with a smile. The red dragon bobbed his head and then peered up at Serina. "Hi Mom!" "Hello dear. That was certainly helpful what you two did. Thank you both for keeping him calm." Just then, little Vliticus made himself more comfortable on his mother's leg and yawned tiredly. "Uh oh. I think you two should play outside for a bit. Looks like it's nap time for the little one."
