Description
Hi! Today we're going to visit this giant temple in the hidden mountain range..."Her breath left her at the site of Temple. It was massive, carved into the mountain and it seemed like something out of Lord Of The Rings. Dwarfing the wall with four huge solid marble pillars. Intricate designs ran up the weathered surfaces of the pillars. Each pillar told its own story. The tops of them had a woman's bust holding up the top part of the mountain. " - JamesOcean

Thanks! Don't worry, I have the classic mushroom painting almost ready. I have a commission and a mushroom painting halfway there, I just can't decide which one should I finish first

Beautiful! I definitely got a very Tolkien-esque feel from this picture, and the extra little details like the puddle of water in the foreground and the village/cluster of buildings in front of the temple really serve to make the world feel more natural and lived-in. I could honestly see a whole "Lord of the Rings"-style adventure story built around this one world!

Pillars in ancient structures were not solid. They were rings put on around an iron corps (wrapped in lead to prevent rust). Also Caryatid pillars had the entablature resting directly on their on their heads, taking advantage of the full structural strength of the column--the figures up there are just for decoration, they have no structural strength to speak of. Also, why is something so obviously classically inspired (though it would have been nice to see some architectural detail on the building rather than this rustic treatment) be described as looking like something like the Lord of the Rings? Did you know that Tolkien envisioned Numenorian/Gondorain culture as looking like Pharaonic Egypt?

No I did not. Nor would the character in the story. But thanks for letting me know.
You are right about ancient structures in our world. In a world of magic... maybe not so right. ;D

It has quiet the story. Though it's still in its first Beta reader stage. So it will be a while yet.
