Description
You might've seen the WIP stage of this painting a few days ago (antonkurbatov.deviantart.com/a⦠)I spent some more time refining this piece, so here's the result
I also made some thumbnais of these red aircrafts down the river just for fun, perhaps I will share them tomorrow
I tried to convey the peacefullness and harmony of this place through bright colors and fast brush strokes
Hopefully, I succeed at it. I enjoyed painting this piece so much!
UPDATE: Just woke up in the morning and was stunned by 75 notifications
Thanks for the appreciation!

Man, you really have a nice technique for this. It may seem silly, but the waterfall actually is what I like the most. You did a good job with the misty stuff. I can almost breathe the wetness in the air. The water reflections are beautiful as well.

oh this is really good, the concept, the colors the composition, the perspective Only the red balloons bother me a bit, they are just in a really weird places and the size and value doesn't compare well
overal great work, keep it up!

Thanks! Yeah, It was a bit of struggle to paint the balloons, perhaps I could spend more time on them. The next time I paint similar stuff I'm going to check if it reads well!

This reminds me of a Miyazaki film. That's a good thing.

Do you know the movies
-My Neighbor Totoro
-Howls Moving Castle
-Sported Away
-Kiki's delivery Service
-Ponyo
-Castle in the Sky
Princess Mononoke
He's the creator of those movies. He's from Japan, and is famous for tube creativity and imagination of his work. All his movies are hand drawn, traditional art work. He retired a while back but he's currently 75 years old. He began his career working at Toei Animation an Anime Making Company. His genre is varied. There could be a romance, a gore, or a sweet and nice movie. You should check him out and watch his movies. I recommend Ponyo so you can see the detail, inspiration, imagination of his work.

I only heard about Totoro, but never watched any of these movies, since I'm not into anime at all
Thanks for the introduction, maybe sometime i'll get to watch Ponyo or something from your list!

This is pretty cool! I like the style of painting you employ. What kinds of brushes are you using to generate the look and feel?
π: 0 β©: 1
AntonKurbatov In reply to steviedw [2016-08-19 21:23:51 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! I was painting with a single brush the entire piece. The brush is horisontal, but consists of dots instead of lines, so when you try to paint a vertical line with it it gives you some cool kind-of-traditional effect which I like
The other thing to mention is that I almost never use undo option and I paint 99% of the picture on one layer
It's a longer way, but it's just a style

It might be so. Maybe I've lost a bit of perspective and form in the details
