Hi everyone! This is a very strange idea from yesterday - a village of giant mechanical mushroom-shaped houses in the desert. I believe the technomages live here - the mad scientists which formed a cult. They worship the weird god-mechanism that happen to be a moon of the planet we're on. I might be able to sketch this guy and give him a name and personality sometime =]***

There's a coolness factor to this that I can't express beyond, "Looks so awesome!" haha.
I do really love your play with scale in this, making the house look so big compared to the vast desert.

Not sure if you intended this, but that giant mecha-shroom looks like it can get up and walk around. I can imagine it lumbering around; sounds of rusted, clanging metal and makeshift hydraulics echoing through the area. With steam/exhaust blaring out from the underside of the roof, as if it were spreading it's spores!
Well, if it had one or two more "legs" that is. Having it run around on two would just be goofy.
I've never seen your take on this kind of genre, only having seen your general fairy-tale Fantasy layouts. You do fantastic work!

Thanks! I wanted to paint the third leg actually, but thought that it's going to create too much details in one area, which is not good. I have another idea for walking mushroom robots anyway, perhaps I will paint it later =]
And yeah, I'm not only into fantasy, I like steampunky stuff, it just takes longer to paint, so it's rare =]

Only a handful of people in the world can manage such a task, and even they would take a lot of days of constant working, so it doesn't matter

Okay it's about 2 weeks ago but I'm working on the flying mushroom city. The sketch is already done. I will upload it but the digital elaboration needs some time because I have no time to paint at the moment...

And it's a shame I still didn't paint this mushroom city myself. The idea is on my mind each day, but this mushroom dieselpunk requires some research and design, so it's going to take more time than standard landscape =] Will do it sometimes anyway!

Yes, it's right. This idea is a bit crazy and not so easy to develop... I already began to paint it on digital canvas and I have to say its difficult to find a good space station style for the city.
I know there are different options and styles to paint this flying city and - whenever you have enough time to work on this - I will wait for it and I would be happy to see your version.
