I just hack away at bryce.. takes 30 mins to do before rendering.. then maybe the same to fix what I don't like

I did it by putting a layer of ice white water underneath a lighter (and hopefully translucent/transparent) layer. Didn't quite work out, but it's pretty cool all the same.

Mmmm..... I like this version better than the one with the ship and stuff. I dunno why... It's really nice... *wishes I could give a real critique on this piece

Frontmost moon is supposed to be a planet, which the moon we are on is orbiting.

Looks good for a start.
Try to get away from using presets, at least tweak them a lot.
Don't be afraid to mess with the sun and sky presets too.
The planet does not look like its out in space because its too close, have to move it back, way back.
You have height maps and metaballs, should be able to make some strange structures and or plants and stuff.

I've not delved that deep into it.. this was my first attempt at making a scene anything at all like this. Definately gonna work a wile ont he next one.

I'd say keep the stuff you had in there before... but the moon still doesn't look like it's on the horizon. I can help you work on it a bit when I get home, if you'd like. I have an idea for what can be done, but it's a bit hard to explain.

very nicely rendered, but i think you might just've went a bit too far with the island in the distance..... with all the little hills and all... and its a bit plain...... some editing in photoshop would help (with lighting, and possibly some added details like clouds or such)
