MWA! this took me SOOO long... only because my editing program is capable of almost nothing and i had to make this a lower layer then manually erase the white bg to reveal thsi underneath! gah! my eyes hurt. Anyway... thsi is for . She loves bastet as much as i do. Bastet was the cat goddess of gentlness, prosperity, child birth, contentment... she was also one of the four preotecting goddess's, one placed at each corner of a tomb, she would be drawn in human form with great wings spreading from each arm, one arm along the west wall, one along the north. Her main temple was located in Bubastis and was the central place of her worship. Her origin was probably in the small dessart cats that would wonder into egyptian homes looking for food and could easily be domesticated. She was often also associated with purity and life, but also with beauty and vanity. I'm guessing the vanity derived from real cats... just lok how vain they can be, always cleanign themselves and smoothing their fur^^ oh well... i'm an egypt freak.. i run away now to read more of my egypt books... *runs away*Related content

I really like this a lot! Not only does it look awesome, but this is a unique version of Bastet that I've seen~ More docile-looking than usual. I like it though!
(I think she's usually depicted a little bit 'wilder' because she was sometimes also seen to be a protector and such, but then again Sekhmet was more towards that line of personality as the 'Eye of Ra/Horus', and Bastet became more associated with the domestic cat in later years... XD' )
Anyway, I really like your depiction! ^.^ And you did a really nice job considering you had to get rid of the excess white by hand. .w.'

Aha, MAGNIFICENT!
Just as I thought!
I'm thinking mabey if you made the BG longer, get a good view of all three of the Big Pyramids, position her in it like it was a postcard or something, that'd be kinda cool.

^_^ I like it. Very coolness. This is going straight to my favourites list. *click* And as for Bastet, you've revived that part of my reading. Thank you! *hugz* Although Horus was always my favourite of the Gods probably because of his story with Seth and all that stuff (you'd know what I'm talking about I think). How he lost his eye and that's the funky eye you see everywhere that I think is supposed to protect or something... And besides the story to Horus I also like hawks though I don't draw them that often. But anyway. Great pic, and believe me, back in the day when I had no good programs I could relate to you soo much. ^_^ Well, anyway. Good job!

Yes yes! the eye of horus^^ also refered to as the kohl. It was also asociated with hathor, the daughter of Ra who he created in the form of a giant eye to search through the sea of chaos for his beloved children Geb and Nut... the earth and sky. She found them and returned them, and as a reward he placed her in the center of his forhead as a third eye or in other stories turned her into a tiny cobra that sat on his forehead and protected him. thus the cobra on pharohs crowns^^ and yes, i definatly need money so i can buy a better program, everything takes so much longer with htis one... i neeeeed adobe! *cries*
