No selling abilities is not an uncommon trope in my writing, I admit that. However, I try to give a reason for it and allow the cast to react accordingly. In this case, the "Mother" (yeah, she literally doesn't have a name, as revealed later, so call her what you want.) has a very interesting ability that allows her to SURVIVE getting her eye crushed.
Repeatedly.(Though as shown by her reaction, it indeed hurts her.)
Actually, the "Mother" is interesting because her power is the kind of power that most protagonist's would have in that it's somewhat heartwarming in how it works and relies on LOVE!!!(not the acronym, actual love), as will be revealed next comic (along with a dash of horror.)
