First meme!
This is a bit late as I meant to finish and post it on Halloween to celebrate my cosplay anniversary which happens to be on Halloween (isn’t that the case for us all). XD Unfortunately, October was a hectic month for me (it’s a wonder that I even got a new cosplay for Halloween) and so was November, so I didn’t have enough time to finish and post this in time; I've worked on it on and off throughout both months, which I find hilarious since this thing is supposed to take like an hour or less to complete. Anyway! Here, in celebration of my cosplay anniversary is a cosplay meme!

And just as a note to my cosplay buds: If you see any series represented here that you’re planning to cosplay from, then please let me know; I’d love plan groups with y’all.

So here's my “Audio commentary”:

Question #1: Ahhhh yes, the evolution of cosplay. My Mom and I found it fun to see how much my cosplaying has evolved.

My first cosplay ever! I remember being so proud walking around as a Neopet since I was such a Neopet fanatic back then.

Katara (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Sorry, no good pictures of this one as I still have to have a formal photoshoot. It was so hard finding an appropriate pattern for this one, as I remember. I was very proud walking around my school’s Halloween festivities even though most people had no idea who I was (and gave me a hard time for it) and a boy in my class bullied me since Avatar was such a “childish” thing to watch, apparently. NICKELODEON FTW!

Peach (Super Mario Bros.)
Peach cosplay, yesssss!! I wore this to Comi-Con 2009 and it was a hit. Just so many good memories. ^^ And I just love this dress – it’s so shiny and pink. This also happens to be my most expensive cosplay, the pink taffeta for the dress coming in at $75, as I recall.

Kagamine Rin (VOCALOID 02)
I remember I wanted to be Miku since she was the first Vocaloid that I was introduced to and therefore my first favourite, but that hair.. Yeah, no. Wasn’t going to happen. But I had also fallen in love with Rin and was thinking of being her for Halloween – this thought lasted one day. Too cold, too unrecognizable. But then came Tsukino-Con. I really like this cosplay; I felt so sharp in the arm and leg pieces. I did feel self-conscious not having a wig, but after getting so many complements, I felt much more confident. I also entered my first Cosplay Contest in this cosplay (and won a prize)!

Maka Albarn (Soul Eater)
MAKAAAAAAAAAAA!! ~ I love Maka. Maka is beyond awesome. I knew that she’d be my favourite character and that I’d probably cosplay as her before I even watched Soul Eater (lesson: don’t judge an anime by its title). She’s just so good: she’s the main heroine of the series, she’s smart, well covered (you don’t see that everyday) and she has the best weapon! Cosplaying as her was a dream and was also an accomplishment since it’s such a hard cosplay.

Igiko/female England (Hetalia: Axis Powers)
Closet cosplay. Must I say more? I messed up the hair. So bad. *Shame shame*. I do quite like Igiko, though. This was my first genderbend cosplay, which was fun. More in the meme..

Toon Link (The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords/ Windwaker/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks, Super Smash Bros. Brawl)
It’s a wonder that this cosplay was ever finished. I thank my Mom for doing most of the work at the last minute since I was unable to. Most of it was actually finished the day before, with much stress (the shield I stayed up until 12AM the night before trying to finish it). But the results were good, I think. This was my first crossplay; it turns out that I can actually look like a guy – sort of. XD I’m really looking forward to crossplaying again.

#2-4 are self explanatory.

Question #5: Future cosplays
I’m just going to refer to them with directions, not by name because I challenge you to see how many of them you can identify! (I’m curious.)

From L-R, top row:
1. This is a cosplay that I’ve never seen anyone else do before, which makes me really want to do it. I really love that game and want to cosplay from it. This character, along with being my favourite, is probably the most recognizable of the series, so that’s why I choose her. The only thing I really wonder is if anyone will recognize this cosplay.
2. This is a cosplay that I never really thought would end up on my wish list, but I just can’t stop thinking about how much fun it’d be to act him out and really, he’s just plain awesome.
3. Yeah, I like her. It feels weird putting a KH character on my cosplay wishlist seeing as I’ve only every played one KH game, so I don’t really know all that much, but yeah.. XD
4. Another character you don’t see cosplayed very often. I love series a lot and she’s the only character that I think that I could pull off, so there you go. Again, probably not all that recognizable, so I think that I’m definitely going to need the full crew to go with this one. Anyone interested, please let me know.
5. Love him. Love him, love him, looooove him. Enough said.
6. This could be dubbed wishful thinking as getting that wig, for me, will be a challenge. But still, I love the character design and she was the first character of the series that I was introduced to, so I definitely want to cosplay as her. Plus I can think of quite a few people that I can group with.
7. I know, cosplaying from the second most popular series in North America isn’t all that original, but I just can’t help myself. She’s another one of those characters that I want to cosplay every variation of because I just like her so dang much. She’s just so awesome.

Bottom Row:
1.She’s the heroine of this series that I grew up watching (that’s right, I started seriously watching Pokemon when I was 13 ) and so, of course, I want to cosplay as her.
2. Another unique cosplay. I chose this variation since it’s the least pedestrian looking. In fact, it’s delightfully over-the-top. I’m not sure how many people would get it; I’m thinking it would be better if I found a Nocchi and Kashiyuka to go with me.
3. She’s probably my favourite anime character of all time, so therefore I want to make every variation imaginable for her. This is the next one that I plan to do; the dress is so nice (I might even wear it to a school dance). I’m thinking that I should try to find Soul to cosplay with me with this variation.
4. Now here’s a cosplay that defines the term “unique cosplay”. I think that it’d be really fun to do, but I'm really not sure if anyone would get it. Definitely a fun one to do with a group, since the character designs are so much fun.
5. I’ve wanted to do a Sonic cosplay for a while; unfortunately there isn’t really a character that I immediately “latch onto”. My preference went from being Amy, to a female version Knuckles, to female Sonic; then I remembered this character. She’s kind of an outspoken character which I actually really like. I did a bit of research on her (since I hadn’t yet played a game that she’s in) and found her character to be pretty interesting (and she’s a strong female character ). I think I still want to make a genderbend gijinka of either Knuckles or Sonic, but I want to do this one first, probably for one of the bigger conventions that I’ll be going to.
6. I was so into this series when I was younger and I think I’d like to cosplay from it even though it’s been so long. I’m thinking that this cosplay might be a little revealing though. Another fun one to have a group for.
7. She’s one of the greatest fictional heroines (and from one of my favourite, if not favourite Ghibli movies) and you don’t see her cosplayed very much, so I definitely want to be her someday. She's so strong. It's great.
