Description

They were waiting for her around the corner of the building that led to the White Lily.

It was a bar she owned and was named after her own name. Torrential rain would have helped if the ones after her were human, but to borgs... it hindered herself.

Actually I have not written the story yet. Probably will concentrate on it when I am done with Chapter 2 of Robot City.

I would like to thank Stunning Jelly Fish for the White Lily digital artwork plastered on the wall. (my daughter)

Hope you all enjoy the Action Scene and if you look closely you will see lots of gems in the pict.

Work was done in Daz Studio Pro and Rendered in I-Ray

Postwork for all the rain-droplets and spatter were done using Ron's brushes deviney , (Get them here -Β  www.daz3d.com/devineyΒ )

If you wish to know how I did my post-work... Click Below

The Postwork for AMBUSHHi there,I had been meaning to do a Postwork Journal for some time, and as always... something would always get in the way. So I decided that I should do one on the latest work submitted. As with any works I do... it starts out with the characters in my story and what kind of action and scene that she or he would be in. Here I already had a character's basic background and name, but I needed a character to play her. I chose... Chiyo by Raiya as my base model which I converted from Gen3 model. Base skin texture used was from... Lyra by BluejaunteGYN-02 by @DAVEYABBO was an excellent choice coz I had just bought that model and was itchin to use...and for the last one I used another of his... GYN-01.The scene was set in Stonemason's Urban Future 05... I mean comeon! Stonemason is one of my favourite model maker of scenes. Mr Mason or is that Ms Mason? Not too sure but sure love the meticulous effort made for every cityscape put out.Poses and render techniques I think everyone has their own way of doing it as well as choices of robes and other props/products/models used so I will not dwell too much on them.Only one thing I will say is that I normally take a long time to see how I find the lighting or camera angles by doing quick renders first. Through initial process of elimination; the final angle will undergo longer renders to see how it turned out. If I don't like it... it is back to making minor changes either in the lighting or camera angle generally. Rarely do I go full cast change...For this scene, I did foreground render and background render separately. The reason for this choice was because of what I intended to do for the scene and how I wanted to manipulate some of the renders. This is the Raw Background scene just after render (IRAY in Daz Studio Pro 4.12)In Photoshop using layers of Shadows n Highlight followed by Vignette effect... The effect enhanced the look of the Background.Adding a self-made picture always personalises your scene... but sometimes it can also work with the story of the character. So, I requested (instagram:stunning_jellyfish) - to help paint a White Lily for me... a water color effect of the lily.As the name of the Assassin is the White Lily... I thought it added a nice touch.Next, I added Ron's rain effects for the background...And then again enhanced the effect. It was now time to work on the foreground...I gave the raw render a Path blur effect, then reduced the effect with mask. This allowed details to show through and thereby allowing the scene to look dynamic. I took the liberty of adding the Daz Studio logo to signify it was made in Daz Studio... but weathered the effect to not look too blatant.Notice also the pose of the props were done in order to give that feel of dynamism... I hope I managed to portray it in my finished work??? lol! PLEASE AGREE! ;)NOW was where I enjoy dabbling with PS when dealing with post-work!White Lily has stabbed her with her right hand and blocked the GYN-02's blade attack with the left hand. Lily's left hand has also pumped several rounds to its head. I wanted to show that effect. So I worked on the Helm first.I added black line and white then used Nudge to blend the effect. At the same time added Ron's scratches and gave the effect of plate looking worn. Then it was time to show the effects of firing a gun in close quarters as imagined by me.Layers of debris bit, sparks and firing light, gun-smoke did the trick.Adding to this, I followed up with blood spatter, bullet shells and smoke! This same scene with a background...You see the beautiful flying bullet shells that were not props, but using Ron's brushes. And with that, all that remained now was to add Rain to the foreground and give the effect as though they are fighting in the rain! I added all those effect of water splashing on the surface as well as water running down their legs; steam effect off the streets... and then, the Final composition.Thank you for visiting and reading my journal.Thank @deviney for all his wonderful brushes. (U can get it here https://www.daz3d.com/deviney )I sincerely hope that my style of work helps make you do one with your own style mixed to it and happy Post Work!Take Care - SVF my friend.Yaz

Thank you

You always do such stunning action scenes.

And I'm curious where you found her boots?

Oh well it was part of the whole ensemble. It is part of the clothing she is wearing.

What is the costume then? I figured that the identical textures and the fit of it all might be a full costume, but I wasn't sure.

I haven't switched up from G2 yet so I haven't been focusing on G8 clothes as much. At the same time when I see something awesome I want to make sure I don't miss out on it.

I'm torn, G8 has so much cool stuff and I've been grabbing it when I can but they seem to be missing a few things I want. Also G2 works beautifully with V4 skins with the right UV tools.

I’m almost exclusively working with G8 now; having bought quite a lot of utilities. Also bec I tend to use Iraq lighting.

Yeah I'm using iRay too but I do a basic conversion of textures using some shaders I like. I'm really loving the crazy things you can do with emissives in iRay like lightsabers. Like this one:

This is hands down one of the best pieces I've seen created by Daz. This should be the promo for the next version of Daz3d!Β
And also thank you for taking the time to breakdown the process of this piece!

I'm looking forward to more of White Lily's story! Would really like to see how you plan to tell her story and take us into the world. I am also trying to create a series of scenes revolving around a story. Seems challenging but really fun!

Excellent work, dramatic poses, kinetic energy and mood.

As for critique just a little note, I would consider using some postwork correction on the lens distortion in the corners. The rear foot of the lady is quite long... This kind of distortion can enhance the dynamic if it's into the viewers direction (in this case the camera angle should have been from the lower right), but to the corners it looks strange.

AOGRAI In reply to Magnus-Strindboem [2020-03-22 02:46:36 +0000 UTC]

I get what you mean. Problem was I wanted to see her face to produce the effect of the gunfire at close range as well as dynamism of movement. Camera zoom effect would cause such a distortion and is a byproduct that which after awhile I sorta liked. So for me I did not mind the distortion. What you mentioned is valid n thank you for your observation. Appreciate your critique as always.
