The detail is incredidibly sharp. The hair I thought was impressively done. Detail in general was fantastic. And though the background is not a huge thing, I thought that it was great. I also though it was an interesting thing that you made his lips larger than what they were in the books, gave him an interesting dynamic. Over all great job!

Wow, I have to say, I really love this picture for two reasons, one, I love Pet Shop of Horrors (Love D, so much!) and two, Kouyu Shurei is my GOD. Her art makes me squee (so anxious about the arrival of alichino 4! Whenever that may be...), seriously, and the fact that you've done this picture in her style means I have no choice but to fave it. xDD
I love the full lips, and the definition around the eyes and the lovely hair.

Similar reasons here, I like to adopt some things from styles I respect, this time yeah i have been always thinking that Pet Shop SHOULD have Koyu Shurei style^^ - it just fits so perfectly~ i tried to use it all in MY style.

yeah i tried to make him more male as much as it is possible with this face ^^. Cause I also don't like when he is totally feminised, I like the edge in him, and if you see him from yaoi perspective I always saw him as the top.

No comment on the "yaoi perspective", but people who don't portray that "edge" in him do him an injustice. There's a lot more to him than an obsession with sweets and a tendency to coo over man-eating creatures... If there wasn't, would the series be worth reading? He's dangerous, powerful, and overall neutral instead of good or evil. His allegiance lies with nature, which can be beautiful and terrible, unfathomably cruel and unbelievably kind; and can, paradoxically, be all of these things at once. It's what makes him an interesting character.

yeah, well said my friend, and then he confronts his human side with feelings for Leon and this lil Kid, and this goes against his nature and beliefs. I love his character, it has so much more. wonderful story to boot. Nod nod~

Right, exactly! There's so much going on with him. He's a very three-dimensional character, with so many different facets. I think he's fond of Leon and Chris in much the same way that he's fond of some of his animals, which might be confusing for him since he tends to think of humans as something separate and, to some extent, unnatural. Ironically, he of all people sometimes forgets that humans are animals too.
I actually don't read much manga, because a lot of what's available lies somewhere between old-fashioned plotless bam! zoom! THWOK! comic books and daytime soap operas. A friend of mine talked me into this one though, and I loved it. Except the ending.

there are some good ones, when you know where to look for - for example Minekura Kazuya is one of the best in plots and art now a days I think, I could rec you a few yaoi, but i see you aren't interested. There are some good ones, so to say classic.
I'm sure you'd love some of the old manga from 70-80 not the crash bumm bang, but for example Takemiya Keiko or Yamagishi Ryoko. Brilliant, psychological, very clever.
But yeah, despite rather simple artwork, Pet Shop is a very clever and beautiful work.

I'm not against yaoi, just so you know, and I'm definitely not homophobic. I just like plot. I never was too into romances, no matter what kind they were, if that's all there was.

yeah same her, tho I'm into yaoi I'm into the one with plot and psychology - if you like darker stuff try also Rika the Breeder by Modoru Motoni - she is brilliant with her twisted a bit crazy plots. very decadent and with a good bit of dark humor.
I cant stand cheap romances (cause some are actually good - like Love Mode - rather simple artwork, but very cute stories) or sex-mangas myself.. makes me sad to see sometimes wonderful artwork wasted on no plot.

Not enough love for PSoH, there never is. Wonder why's that? Because, it is for sale in Finland, so it must be somewhat known and popular. Guess all the fans are just hiding...
D's lips sure should be that kissable! :-D Well, maybe they should be a little thinner but that wouldn't decrease the... kissability. (whoa is that a word..?)
