Did... she just get shot in the back?

I am speaking about many different factors. Firstly, her stance. Extremely forward, like something shoved her from behind. She looks off balance. Secondly, her facial expression. Eyes wide, pupils and irises contracted, utilizing the age-old animation tactic to evoke strong surprise, fear, and sometimes anger. Generally, just any strong negative emotion would result in the character's pupils being drawn very small. Such is the case here. Her mouth is slightly open, evoking a strong feeling that she was caught by surprise. Thirdly, the position of her hands. She is gripping her own chest. While this girlish gesture is very common when used in posing, attempting to portray the feeling of femininity in a character, it's use here evokes something different with me. All of these factors combined in my mind create the conclusion that somebody has just shot her in the back. The scene is dramatic and still, as she is cut off mid-sentence by a sharp report. Her eyes slowly widen, not fully comprehending what has just transpired. Her voice is abruptly silenced, yet her mouth remains open, surprised, pained. She loses her balance and falls forward, no longer able to control her own legs. Aaaaand cue this picture. If this were an animation, the very next instant would find her crumpling to the ground in front of a horrified Sonic, only to have the camera rapidly pan from his disbelieving, agonized face over to the smoking bore of the firearm, held by whatever menace you'd like to insert. I hope I didn't ramble, but do you see my point now?

Just imagine an arrow sticking out of her back. It might make it easier to envision.

...I'm sensing a disconnect somewhere. Terribly sorry that I can't get my point across. Not to pry, but English wouldn't be your first language, would it?

Yes it would be.

Well slap me with a fish and call me a Ninevite, your profile does say United States, doesn't it? So it obviously isn't a language barrier. I suppose that just means I'm crazy... Oh well.

Allow me to reiterate. The position of her body, the expression on her face, the position of her hands, all of these create the impression that she is surprised, shocked, off-balance, and in severe pain. And due to how far forward she is leaning in this picture, it looks like she's falling over. Combine all these factors, and draw one conclusion. To me, this looks like a screenshot taken in the instant some nameless assailant shot her in the back. Not saying she actually was, merely that it was what I saw. And also, do not misunderstand. I am in no way degrading the quality of this artwork. In fact, this artist's version of Amy is one of the best I've seen. Does that make any more sense?

That was most likely the artist's intention, yes. I just have a flair for the dramatic that sometimes gets the better of me. It's rather debilitating, honestly, especially in a storytelling environment. I write exposition and tension well enough, but it is the down-to-earth, lighthearted, casual, day-to-day activities of my characters that cause me the most trouble. But I suppose that's why I have Dear Miss Finley Kain, my co-author. Dialogue is her specialty.

I really like the lighting and the floaty pose. Also, it's in a pleasing paint-brush-stroke style. But I gather that you're known for that by now.

I really, really wish I could give a proper comment. I've tried to come up with one. But this is just so damn gooood.....
It feels like there's so much shock, intensity, and heartbreak in that background....Amy is just so detailed, three-dimensional, stylish....
...I salute you.

This kind of reminds me of the art nouveau movement.
Is that what you were inspired by?
Very nice indeed.

I want to kill everyone who likes your art and at the same time having enough points for their own Membership and another.
If I had enough I'd give a Membership to you first
