Relief and disappointment are like love and hate : close and similar feelings.I've always been interested in the language of flowers. The contradictory messages delivered by red carnation are intriguing : at first, it means mutual love, deep affection. However, in another context it stands for "regrets that this love cannot be shared" as well. Its last significations are "heartache" or "broken heart".
I was also deeply influenced by the Lithuanian poet Dalia Jazukevičiūtė.
"Kai paskutinį sykį atstumsi mano ranką
Ir tvarsčiai
Nuplėsti nuo atvertos širdies
Gulės po kojom
Aš būsiu dar laiminga
Kažkur viršum juoduojančios
Bedugnės
Krentanti grumstu"

This is my very, very first real picture drawn with a graphic tablet. My lineart is more refined and the style a bit similar to my "hand-drawing". I'm glad I could improve in a month.

Thank you for the constructive comment ! It was my intention from the very beginning to leave the background white and also because I've used a light red and grey for her skin. It would have been strange and too dark. I wanted to depict both a melancholic and serene atmosphere. A part of the drawing is supposed to represent the relief and the joy to be loved in return, although this love won't be lived and shared together.
