I been talkin about a new idea for L4D, and here it is: The survivors were known to be heading for the Florida Keys. But what if they weren't the only ones with the idea? What if the military set up a research base in the Keys with the goal of finding a cure? And then what if this cure developed into a super-strain of the infection virus, capable of mutating even the survivors? That is the premise behind my campaign, which I'm calling: PARADISE LOST.You play as one of four soldiers sent to retake the base and recover the research data, but as soon as you land, you find the island facility overrun with super-versions of special and normal infected, in addition to the tragic news that the new superstrain can even mutate the supposedly immune 'carriers'. The only person with a hope of finding a proper cure is Dr Kathleen Grayson, a doctor stranded somewhere in the deepest bowels of the lab. But first, you'll have to find your way through the facility itself, now heavily damaged, and guarded by the first unlucky 7 test subjects. Your mission: Find Dr Grayson, recover the research data, and eliminate the carriers of the superstrain. The fate of mankind rests with you. Paradise is lost. Find it again.

y only four soldiers? is that like, the unlucky number? i mean think about it, EVERY game has 4 people! y not a 10 man team, with campaigns divided between ur choices in the game?like Gears of war?

Daaamn. That's like, the ultimate fear of any researcher: creating a worse version of what you're trying to cure. This is really interesting. I doubt that Valve would throw every single character away just like that because of the super infection. It seems too soon. But this would undoubtedly make one of the greatest side stories ever. Like, if Valve started up campaigns where you explore all the possibilities for the fate of the Survivors.

ur right, they should not come across the island without some kind of freak accident killing the rest of the military. i mean, the army cant just hand 4 guys guns and say go save the day! there should be a cutscene where its a whole massive force, but then a freak storm and destroys the planes carrying them. but only 4 make it out and must continue the mission

Who knows, maybe this could work in a story or fanfic. all four survivors become infected and mutate but still retain some memories and intellect but most of the time they're like ordinary infected. Only smarter and won't just kill everything that moves.
