Okay, this redesign is particularly special because the bootleg in question wasn't something I found on Google Images or Reddit but in my local dollar store! They usually don't have edited characters on the stuff they sell but then I found this in their home wares section (it's a big photo): sta.sh/01f35rwvceyk they traced over Spongebob, made him completely white and slapped him on a bath sponge packet.The difficult part about redesigning 'Dr. Magic' is working with an overall generic look. I mean, they made him completely white, so there's not a lot of colours to work with. But with that in mind, I decided to make him look more like a doctor so that 'Dr. Magic' name has more weight to it and also gave him blue eyes because he needs colour dammit! Giving him a doctor's coat also worked with the fact that he still had Spongebob's sleeves but with no shirt attached.
Overall, Doc here has a lot more going on and now looks more like an interesting character rather than a traced Spongebob.
