Description
After drawing Khaos as a mermaid (fav.me/de29dtr ), I started thinking of what else could be made into a mer-person. Immediately, I thought of the Irukandji: a box jellyfish found in Australia, known for being extremely venomous. It is also about the size of a sugar cube and really transparent; so, if you're not careful, you can swim right into one and in moments, a fiery pain would go all over your body which could last for hours or maybe even days. In rare cases, it can even kill a person if they didn't get to it quickly. And that's why -if I ever visit Australia- I'm never going to swim at a beach. I'll just stay on the sand where the Irukandji can't reach me!

In regards to the design, I was aiming for something a little more unsettling than your typical mermaid, hence her dark eyes and three large fangs. Drawing the stingers was a little tricky, because they're meant to be really thin and I tried to keep them as thin as humanly possible. In the end, though, I think they came off a little stiff; well, I tried. I'll be honest though, I was a little nervous posting this because of... well... her lack of clothing. I have drawn nude/half nude characters before but here, it's a bit more obvious. I'm not hating myself for making this choice; I remember being such a prude as a teen but since then, I've been pushing all of that to the curb (love yourself, accept yourself). But I keep getting the feeling that a lot of people who look at my art work might feel uncomfortable with it and I completely understand that. This is new territory for me too. Who knows, I might to a extremely adult piece and if that ever happens (which I doubt, but never say never), I'll put the mature content filter on so that you don't have to look at it if you don't want to. But here, I think it's still on the tasteful side... ish.
