It had been a long time before Nicanor could be ridden, but Tony Haart who had been hired to take over the training for the non-racing horses at Cedarwood Stables, soon had him quieted down. Some very intense training sessions followed to finally result in the well groomed (albeit somewhat spooky looking) Nicanor.

The announcer came on the speaker introducing the next competitor - #9 Nicanor ridden by Jessica Kylar from Cedarwood Stables. The music started as Nic stepped briskly into the arena. It was his first show and thankfully, the upbeat music allowed for his wilder side to come out. His front feet moved quickly in time with the music, would slow to every second or third beat, depending on what Jessica was asking him for.

The 3 minutes was over almost too soon. Jess and Nic of course had their routine worked out to a science and as the music trailed off in the final notes ended up in the traditional position in the centre of the arena saluting the judges.

As they left the arena Jessica leaned over to give Nicanor a "good work" pat on the neck.
