Description
Nothing in this image jumps out as art, but the young man is pretty special. His name is Eric, with never knowing who his father was, and a mother who decided he no longer fit in her life, he became homeless at the age of 16. Now 18, still homeless, he lives in Florida. We met Eric when he was hitch hiking back to Navarre. After a interesting ride with him, we invited him to Waffle House and got to know a little bit more about him as he muntched down on a grilled cheese. The following day, I went by to see him, and feed him a bit more. We drove over to the beach as he told me about different parts of his life.I snapped a series of pictures that day. The reason I posted his image here, was to give a face and name for a homeless youth. At some point he was forgot by those who should have loved him. No documents for him to get an I.D., he can't get employment, or get help from the state. The night we met him, he was planning to sleep in a condemned house with no power or water, and a leaking roof, but it was a place to stay. Eric, may surprise many, because he is not bitter, or angry with the world. He seems to find something good about those he meets along his journey, and he counts his blessing each day.
Take some time to look in your area, maybe there is someone like Eric, who needs your help. One person at a time, maybe we can make a difference.

He or anyone like him are welcome in my home any time.
I've raised many kids, here in North Central Florida, Ocklawaha and Fruitland Park Fl
I've never turned anyone away, male or female, especially those who are younger and really need a place to live.

Sadly I don't know what happen to him. I would check on him and see how he was doing, but one day he was gone. I was told he was housed by some man in Destin. But it sounded more like a deal was made and that was it. I have not heard or seen of him since, but Destin is about 45 mins away from here.

The story behind this picture is very sad. You can even see the sadness in his eyes.
Very wonderful shot.

With lighter hair, he'd look just like my boyfriend and two guys who go to my school. How weird...four people who look alive all living in Florida. I like his expression and pose...and the lil bit of his shirt that I can see (the marking) looks almost like one of my shirts...that I kinda bought out of the boys section >.<
