If you haven't already heard the horrible news, Barbaro was put down after his long battle against his injury and painful laminitis in his other hoof. He put up a great fight and taught all of us a great lesson about never letting go. He was truly inspirational! I Pray for him up in horsy heaven and for his owners and I please ask you never to forget him and give the respect and honor he always deserved and will deserver forever and ever... ...This is a poem I found appropriate for Barbaro's long journey.
A horse’s Wish
Could you bed me down with kindness
On the soft sweet words of love
Could you ride me in man’s finest
With hands as light as a dove
Could you teach me with old wisdom
By the laws of just a fair
Could you be my friend forever
With a trust so true and rare
Could you meet me on to tomorrow
With the grass so green and sweat
Could you free me without sorrow
On the plains of loam and wheat
Could you say Farwell with honor
On the day my life is through
And remember me forever
As I shall remember you.

Very good picture! He truly was an inspirational horse! Barbaro and Ruffian were so much alike in the fact that they both taught us to never let go or give up. Thanks for the beautiful tribute to this amazing racehorse.

Barbaro was the greatest racehorse in the world. He endured a lot, went through a lot of surgery, and won the heart of a nation. Once a Kentucky Derby Winner, always a Kentucky Derby Winner. Such a great tribute, I best I've seen.

Barbaro was a famous race horse who had a chance to win the Triple Crown (one of the biggest awards in racing!). He had to win all three of the toughest races, he already had won the first two, but on his last one he broke his leg and died a few months later. It was a long and strenuous battle between life and death. If he hadn't broken his leg he would have won the race and gone down in history
