Description What the hell do you think cavemen wore? Or, you know, every single fucking human ever before we learned clothing can be made from plants, too.

For all the butthurt kiddies crying about hunting for fur being unnatural and wrong.

EDIT: People seem to be entirely missing the fucking point of this stamp. I'm not sure WHY everyone keeps going "FUR IS WRONG" and "Wasting the rest of the animal".

... where did the ANIMAL come up? This is about HUNTING. Not the actual HARVEST or USE of the whatever. I'm talking about the dumbass argument PETArds use against fur that makes no sense. CAN WE STAY ON TOPIC PLEASE OKAY

I mean seriously guys someone who's against fur clothing/taxidermy agreed that using an animal's fur is natural.

So it is possible to, you know, DISAGREE WITH SOMETHING AND STILL UNDERSTAND IT.

I think a few people need to understand THAT.

Yes but the fur is just one part of the animal. It's wrong if you use nothing else from it.

I agree with this.
I don't have anything against hunting as long as it's 1) done as humane as possible. 2) a good reason for the hunt/Controlled hunt. (there's a better word for this but I can't for my life remember what it's called in english /fail)
Aaand that's pretty much it. When you have a licence to hunt for let's say a fox, then I don't see the problem with using the fur etc. I think it's good that they do. That way it's coming to use.
Same with animals you actually can eat. Like rabbit, deer etc.
I don't like fur-farms. Actually, I despise them intensly. Whether they are treated good or not. Because I see no reason for it. I think it's unbelievably cruel. We don't NEED fur today. Not like people did thousands of years ago. Fur-farms only breed animals just so they can use their skin for fashion.
I don't see the reason why people would ever buy a mink-coat. :I (except that they think it's omfg so soft and pretty and that they look omg soooo fabulous in it.)
If I'd ever buy fur, I'll make sure to know exactly where it comes from.

ANYWAY UUGH SORRY FOR MY RANDOM WORD-VOMIT. D':

Sorry, but I'll disagree with it not being wrong. Yes, it's not unnatural, as our ancestors did it as well, but point is, they had to to keep their warmth. We have plenty of our non-fur clothes nowadays.
Hunting an animal and use everything from it, such as the meat, skin and fur is okay, but hunting an animal only for the fur is not only wrong, it's ridiculous. I mean, seriously, people still do that? Sure hell ain't legal in my country

Like I've said to people before I'm in no way advocating using an animal's pelt and throwing the rest away. I'd like to ball-punch anyone who's done that or would do it. At least you got the actual point of the stamp along with going on the "what about the rest of the animal" deal.

Also, never said it wasn't wrong. So not sure what the hell you were going for there...

JustRainy In reply to ??? [2011-03-15 04:18:21 +0000 UTC]

Just becuase people did it along time ago dosent mean its natural. It was just necessary back then. Now its just a waste of life.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

apolu In reply to JustRainy [2011-03-15 13:56:18 +0000 UTC]

It was an instinctual thing; "I'm cold, that thing is fluffy, I'm going to kill it and use its pelt to keep me warm." Its just like today, when you're cold, you automatically think of getting a blanket. Except for the ancient people, that blanket was a fox.

Besides, how is it a waste of life, exactly? If I killed an animal, I'd want to use every part of it, and that includes the pelt. And I hope that anyone else would do the same thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JustRainy In reply to apolu [2011-03-15 22:25:32 +0000 UTC]

Thats not instinct. Thats reasoning. People put together back than that if they were cold, and animals had fur, they could use the fur to keep warm.
And its not a waste of life if your using the animal for whatever else it offers, mainly the meat. It'd acctually be a waste of fur.
But hunting soley for the fur, and fur factories, is a waste of life and meat becuase we obviously dont need fur to stay alive anymore.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

apolu In reply to JustRainy [2011-03-16 01:16:33 +0000 UTC]

Did I ever say I supported hunting for fur? No. Did anything regarding the rest of the animal get addressed? No. Did fur factories ever get mentioned? No. So really, this is kind of a non-sequitur... This stamp is about the hunting, and nothing else.

Also, self-preservation is an extinct. So "I'm cold, I need to get warm or I'm in for trouble" resulting in using an animal pelt, is an instinctual reaction, or at the very least based on one. xD

JustRainy In reply to apolu [2011-03-16 04:32:32 +0000 UTC]

You were trying to justify the hunting of fur by claiming its 'istinctual' and 'natural'. And its not. I mentioned it to prove my point; it has nothing to do with your beliefs on the rest of the animal or fur factories.

Keeping yourself alive is instinctual, but hunting for fur isnt; so yes its only based on it.

My only point was it was only acceptable back then becuase they used the entirety of the animal, and it was neccessary.

apolu In reply to JustRainy [2011-03-16 17:45:08 +0000 UTC]

Uhm... when was I justifying hunting for fur, exactly? I was just making my point that its a natural thing to do. Thats not justifying it.

JustRainy In reply to apolu [2011-03-17 02:47:55 +0000 UTC]

It was just kind of implyed. People dont usually just make a stamp like that without having an opinon in there somewhere :/

You don't have to agree with hunting for fur to think its natural.

At least the early man used everything. I'm not sure about most people who oppose fur clothes today, but I don't have a problem with it if as much of the rest of the animal is used in some way or another.

apolu In reply to nightinthetwilight [2011-03-15 03:47:05 +0000 UTC]

No part of this stamp was addressing or referencing the use of the rest of the body. But yes, I do agree with you, I'm fully for using every part of an animal. xD

Aaah but you see, even if there *were* cavemen :\creationist, THEY were unnatural too, what with using fire and wearing clothes and stuff. No, the world would be so much better without nasty, evil hyoomans at all. (Or at least just neanderthals, I've seen an increasing number of works portraying them as human's more innocent, in-touch-with-nature cousins.)

Ziblink In reply to apolu [2011-03-15 05:13:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, I've sen that view before, humans are a special kind of unnatural. There are those that believe we were created and thus fell into evil sometime long ago (Creationists, but also new age people.) but even those who accept we evolved I've seen say we somehow, in some strange way they never elaborate on, 'evolved wrong' and got out of balance and now we need to go extinct.

I don't really agree with this, since I don't see the point. Not because I care about the wolves, but it kind of reminds me of barbarians and cavemen which had no alternatives. Just saying. I think it's pretty weird to dress in another creature's hide, unless you are Bear Grylls.
