Another "cover" art project, this time thank you so much =opticneuralinterface for letting me use his original picture ( [link] )to paint for my art project!
He's a really nice guy; go see and +fave his gallery!
This was my first venture into the world of painting, though while the original was digital, mine was done in traditional. Did this in oil paints over about 3 weeks ish of school, which ended up being about at least ~15-20 hours. My pride and joy of art class this year. ^^ Sorry the composition sucks, the original had a lot of empty space at the bottom to balance it out, but canvas size is restricting. /:

I've tried my hands with oils myself, Though i've done well to stick to landscapes, probably couldn't paint a human for crap. Anyways this is pretty great and I hear work like this actually sells for quit a bit.

I wish I was a little more proficient at it, lol. This took me twice as long as it should have and the proportions aren't even right, haha. Did you like oils better than other mediums? I thought it was pretty fun, but I'll probably never do it unless I'm in an art class like this one.

Yeah I liked oils, It has the record of being hard to work with but its really far more forgiving then leadwork or charcoal. Next semester I'll probably move on and take a class in water colors though.

Besides, it's not like you EAT oil paints, just wash it off and you'll be good to go. (:
But keep it in mind if you ever decide go emo. Oil paints are the new black when it comes to dying.

Mmhmm. Try out acrylic if you can, too. That way you get to figure out which you like better, etc.

The main differences are oils dry slower and since they use oil, they're easier to move around and blend smoother. That's more or less it.
Oh, and oil paints are slightly carcinogenic.
