Chairman Mao!
I love this portrait. It represents China and its government.
I'm adding it to favourites.

all the citizens are so small. I guess it does put the powers in percpective leader, military, and lastly the citizens. very controversial but good.

Been there...I wonder if they're done with the renovations of the palace?
Don't they replace the portrait every year or few years?

You are an incredible photographer. What a great picture for me to view before the start of the Olympics.

I think the gate looks a bit small for TianAnMen...but could be the perspective.
I like the soldier there, by the way.

I thought you meant a different gate, as in not tiananmen.

The depth of meaning is spacious. More deeper into modern China you go the influence is beyond sound. Hmm. I can't even put into words the strength of your picture. Definity, worth a DD.

Love the photo, it really represents how big of a part Mao still plays within the hearts of the people of China, and I think that this photo represents that perfectly.

The lines in this are beautiful!
I would love to see this in colour. Even tho this has alot of depth to it, it still looks a little flat.

Very thought provoking... very different. I just don't believe that it represents China at all. Just the rules China must follow. (*which to ME pretty much sucks.*)

Great work and shows the huge space that Mao occupies in modern China.
Recent American documentaries revolving around the Olympics etc that either discount, ignore or completely vilify Mao leave a gap in people's understanding of when and why the "peoples revolution" occurred. They need to understand that China had many problems, massive poverty, starvation, brutal inequalities etc that was not being solved by successive regimes of Emperors & War Lords and that Mao only came to power because of the millions that fought to make this occur. It can easily be argued by many, myself included, that he and his red guard went too far, as do all who hold absolute power and loose touch with the people. It could also be argued that modern China is not a communist country but a State Controlled Capitalists dream, run by a party that that acts no different than a facist corporation. That aside, Mao is easily one of THE most important figures of the last 100 years.
Great shot.
