Well they are quite hairy up close (like a cat) so no that's not weird at all! I think the bumblebees are way cute but hey - don't tell anyone I said that!

Thanks so much charlie!

All your bee shots are beautifully cropped. It does take a lot of practice to learn how to do macro.

Thank you so much! I'm quite an 'old school' photographer and I don't edit or crop any of my pics - I post them 'as is' so I really appreciate your kind comment!
Yes I learned very quickly that it is NOT easy trying to take a picture of a moving insect with a macro lens!
Thanks again my friend!

I am old school also. It wasn't until last summer that I boxed up my darkroom and converted 100% to digital. All my effects are done in camera and adjustments made are what I would have done in a darkroom. My first photos were with a Kodak Brownie that belonged to my grandpa in the 60's and started working in a studio from 79-91.

Shooting film for so long I still have the old school habits such as thinking that taking the photo in the camera is only half the photo. The other half is in darkroom (pixelroom today) developing the image. It took Ansel Adams months to develop a photo after he shot it. The reason is that a camera can only see in two dimensions. Developing the photo is enables depth of the third dimension.

It's nice to know that there are others out there that are still familiar with the days of film! I'm still getting used to digital cameras myself and a lot of my friends still use film cameras as well!
lol My first camera was a Brownie too that was my Moms!
I guess I'm so used to the old days of film that to edit or crop pictures now almost seems like cheating! Besides I like my pics to appear as natural as possible - I want people to see exactly what I'm seeing! When I post pics, I go for the ones that look the most real!
Thanks for your comment nivaun!

I am still getting used to digital also and really like it.

I think developing is very important to an image. Our eyes see so much more than a camera is capable of capturing. That is why HDR is becoming so popular. It allows us to produce a print closer to how our human eye sees.

Did you marry him so near?
You are with the camera you approached onto him?
I would not go so near to a little bee.
Nice job!

I had to get very close to him with my camera!
I love the bees and they do not scare me but they can still sting!
Thank you Sandy!

I am afraid of them because I am allergic the bee and onto a wasp sting. Although a bee may visit sometimes. They do not hurt, only if they are afraid. XD

Applemac12 In reply to KillerSandy [2010-03-31 07:05:00 +0000 UTC]

Yes they will only sting if they feel threatened! I have many bees in my garden and I share with them! I get very close sometimes but they will not attack me. I love the bees!

Today came towards me one buzzing. But I scream on reflex one already.
There are less now because of the throat birds at us, but the plum and cherry tree bloom.

I had a monarch butterfly in the garden today which is strange because it's very late for them now. I went to get my camera but he had already gone!
There are still many bees about!
