I've read all the way to Sunset and back then Erin Hunter was still writing more so I stopped reading and kind of forgot about the series for a while. But I started at the beginning again reading it to my husband while we wait for more Wings of Fire too. You know the first time I read the series, I thought it was good. But reading it through a second time when I'm much older now makes me realize how utterly "convenient" everything that happens is. No offense to all you warriors fans, but Fireheart's idiocy is the only reason why the story exists. His refusal to tell the truth, or the full truth, or to make all the wrong decisions at the wrong time constantly creating drama. The whole of Thunderclan's refusal to express Tigerclaw's crap to the rest of the clans was the stupidest and most unrealistic plot that ever could have been written. I've gone from loving Erin Hunter to realizing just how bad her plots are. How stupid her characters have to be in order for her plots to even work in the first place. Greystripe's the biggest idiot of the series by far, with Fireheart taking the lead in second for the stupidest character. And maybe I never would have noticed these things if my husband didn't point them out. Despite liking the story and wanting me to read more to him, he can't help but point out every "convenient and idiotic decision" Fireheart makes to make everything drama all the time in the story. Not only that but Fireheart is so stupid, he never learns his lessons. Despite always taking things into his own paws all the time and getting in trouble for it constantly, he never thinks about the consequences of the actions and decisions he makes, no matter how many mistakes he's made, he never learns from them, he continues to be the same idiotic character that never improves and somehow just keeps making his way up the ladder despite being constantly disobedient, going behind everyone's back, keeping the truth or the full truth to himself, and making rash decisions despite other cats constantly telling him "that's not a good idea." Makes them anyway. Then when it blows up in his face, continues to make the same mistakes.

But the stupidest part was the fact that Thunderclan never revealed what Tigerstar did to Thunderclan. And what's even more appalling is that the other clans don't even question what Tigerstar is doing in Shadowclan. Everyone knew him as a respected deputy, and yet no one bats an eye or demands to know why he's now leader of ShadowClan and what happened to get him kicked out of ThunderClan? That's the most unrealistic thing ever. Surely SOMEONE would have noticed, but no, for the convenience of the story to make the plot continue the way it was, Erin Hunter had to make literally every single cat an idiot. These are only a few issues with her plots.

Anyway I'm done my rant. I still like the story and I'll still continue to read it, I just think it's kind of poorly written now that I've read it through a second time. Something my 12 year old self never noticed that my 23 year old self does. But it's written for 12 year olds so...whatever. It got famous for a reason I guess, I've just never realized how poorly written it is before. I still read it though because I enjoy the characters and I enjoy the story, despite it's obvious flaws.

In the first series, Cloudtail's my favourite cat, and Greystripe is my least favourite cat. I call him "Grape."

I only drew this cause I was camping and I asked my 6 year old cousin what I should draw and he said "A cat!" And so I drew Fireheart.
