you should draw Meltan's eye gaining more expressions, consider that it's eyeball is like a ferrofluid, it could change shape.
for example if Meltan gets surprised it's "eye" will take on a + cross shape, if it gets shocked or in fear it would become an "X" shape.

as all mythticals since gen6.

It's just sad that in recent
games they have had no
involvement in the story,
or any backstory for that matter.

In the main games? Mythicals have always been just tiny bonus events or just given away as-is, never really changed lol
The only exception is Gen 4, where Manaphy had an entire chapter in Ranger, Darkrai and Shaymin had small cutscenes and areas, Arceus had one but was never released. (then of course Deoxys has his Delta Episode in ORAS but also had nothing in the original GBA games)
Also the whole thing about legendaries being pulled from different dimensions into Hoenn is Hoopa's doing. The involvement is there haha
