Description This is another real media piece that I just completed for the Art Show for AnthroCon ((So, again, if you're going look out for it if you wish to purchase it - or just see it in real colors and not the scan).

The concept of this is Fenrir bound and awaiting Ragnarok, looking balefully up at the sky and the freedom it promises, cursing the gods. In the night sky you can also see a stylized Hati chasing the moon :3

This is watercolor and colored pencils with a bit of ink and gelpen touches on 9 x 12 bristol board.

Very nice, although I don't know why he doesn't just chew the ropes off.

This is based off of the Norse Legend of Fenrir, bound by a magical cord named "Gleipnir" - which appears to be nothing but a thin strand, but was impossibly strong to bind the monstrous wolf.

Ooh, Viking Mythology.

I think I've heard that story, the name Fenrir seems familiar to me.

Paradox: Fenrir did what he did because he was furious for what they did to him. But they did it because of what he was still to do.
If instead the had be more friendly with him the events would have gone differently. Instead they caused their own destruction by their own stupid and fearful decisions. I think those foolish gods deserved it. And everyone who's blind enough to act as them deserves to end the same way.

No, not Viking, Norse. There is a huge difference.

I like the look of Fenris in this. He looks both ferocious and pitiable at the same time. It looks to me like he's looking at the moon with fury but also yearning.

Then again, I read too much into things like this.

Love the fur texture on this guy! The style is very beautiful, sort of reminiscent of old Russian paintings. Not to mention I love the subject matter. Norse mythology often unfortunately takes a backseat to both Greek and Egyptian mythology.

Thank you, Moonsong! I agree that variation in mythos is definately a good thing. Norse mythology has such a rich variety of deities and monsters as well

Oh, wow, your traditional media just keeps getting better and better!!!
The whole piece is very stylized and gives it a very 'old world' feel, along with that of your own.
Great job!!

**Loves the paws** <3

Thank you! Your watercolor works have been an inspriation to me as well, Emerwyn! It is such a fun media, and they reminded me how much I used to love working with them.
And I'm glad that you can see the old world influence on the style and concepts, too
