Description And this is what happens when I inherit my grandmother's fabric stash and start brainstorming with another steampunk fan. My dear Seren let me play dress-up with her, and this is what happened. The duster is... inspired by might be a good term. Inspired by this lovely item by ~eqos : [link] The skirt is entirely my own pattern, being approximately 4 1/2 yards of wool blend. The bottom is two full circles (with about 18 feet of hem- I made her measure. ) attached to a yoke and waistband. I must admit that I am rather proud of myself because of it, although her favorite part is the hood.

That skirt is incredible. So cool to find you. I love sewing and artisan crafts, from a fearful distance.

I have a sewing machine that I am "phobic" about approaching. It took me about 100 years to ever take my first watercolor class. So, I figure if I live long enough, I will sit down to that "terrifying" Hah! machine.

Meanwhile, I can enjoy looking at what you make.

Thank you! Just remember, it's more afraid of you than you are of it. Thanks for stopping by!

Nice! I would totally buy something like that duster and wear it for real. Adore!

Thanks! ^_^ (I would take this as an opportunity to put in a shameless plug for my Etsy store, but it doesn't exist yet. D

Super cool. It looks really comfy, interesting, and practical, even. The hood is like, kind of strange, like a brain worm, or a twi'lik, or a little homey hoodie thing. haha. But yeah. It's neeto.

Thanks! She calls it her "Link" hood. I'm in the middle of making myself one along the same general lines, only sans hood and with detachable sleeves. I think it's going to be rather exciting.

I always wondered why Jayne thought steak came from horses instead of cows.

It implies that horses are really really common, and steak is what he really, really wants. Haha.

That looks like it would be really comfy I do like the skirt (and you should be very proud of it!) however the band is probably a bit thick for my tastes as it extends your torso and shortens your legs.
I applaud your resourcefulness by the way ^^

She certainly loves it. The yoke is so long because the lower part is two full circles and so the fabric was only so long, and she wanted the skirt to be longer than that. I think it looks better in person, but that could just be me. Thanks!

That is fantastic, both in design and your customary resourcefulness. I dig the hood, too!

Thanks! She calls it her "Link" hood. And hey, if you ever need some fantasy/sci-fi sewing done, you know who to call...
