Nice! I could see if the setting was definitely in the 1200s her having to wear something like these, especially if she was supposed to be at a dinner with some important people(ie: other kings and queens)

THERE'S AN ART OF BRAVE BOOK? WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME?
Right. I want (need xD) it.
Also, awesome art! Very awesome! I love it. Well, I love basically anything of Merida, but this stuff is really cool! Your concept art is amazing ;D

One of the things that drives me nuts about Disney girls is that for the sake of animation their clothes are oversimplified. Merida's dress only got the right treatment in the cast-member costume worn in the Disney parks. In the films themselves they were rather plan to the point of not being from any particular time. I really like your design alternatives, although I'm not a fan of the ruffle on the bottom-- to me that speaks more Victorian Gibson girl than medieval castle maiden. I like the top right one the best for her "princess" look.

Her hair is more of a copper red here which I really love, and of course those gorgeous dresses. Because of you I really want the Art of Brave book now

I love that art book. XD Loved the film too, can't wait for my pre-ordered DVD. Love this piece, your poses are really nice and fit Merida so well, plus your colors are really watercolor-like and lovely.
