"He's the last one."
Forlorn lives as a guardian of an ancient valve deep in forgotten mountains.
He is the last of his kind in the mountains after having been left after a great migration. He could not follow his family as a youngling, and was rejected by his kin.

Shunned and disconnected, Forlorn grew bitter.

He spent his whole life growing up in the rookery of his kin, never daring to venture beyond the safety of his valves for more than food.

Life seems bleak, doomed to roam the ruins of an old civilization long gone.

Until his home is 'invaded' by a young man: an adventurer looking for both the bounty and treasure of the 'beast in the mountains'.
His life takes a turn for the uncertain when the man proves unable to slay Forlorn, and instead captures him by accident.

The two form an unlikely bond...
