Description
*When most of the initial confusion died down, the government dispatched several squads of the Emergency Response Security Association, ERSA, to the science facility to investigate a distress beacon. When ERSA arrived at the compound, almost nothing was left. It seemed as though an explosion had gone off inside the building, leaving most of the outer rooms intact. At what was left of the facility, scouts had managed to find the last words of one of the scientists in an audio diary. It stated that the facility was attacked by an unknown hostile force.

"We are under attack from an alien lifeform! They look like they have an exoskeletal suit covering their bodies so actual identification is impossible! We--ngh- We- can't hold them off! Our weapons are ineffecti- *static from explosion* -or! We are initiating the self-destruct sequ- *screams of security forces and gunfire* -o prevent capture of the facility. But we are sure of one thing-!

-They are after the crystal-- *static*!"

After listening to the audio diary, the members of the ERSA decided to continue the sweep of the building. After 10 minutes of search, Delta squad reported finding a dead alien life form in one of the outer rooms, probably caught in the blast radius and was launched there. The entire platoon gathered around the body. The body looked robotic. Its' armor was mostly black with a silver trim. The body itself looked longer than everyone else currently around it, suggesting that it was taller than them. But it was definitely humanoid. An ERSA member moved to inspect the body, but the platoon leader stopped him, saying they should call HQ first.

They Linked their headquarters and reported their situation, and asked for further instructions. Headquarters instructed them to prep the body for airlift so they can bring it to a lab to analyze the body. No sooner had they touched the body, it stirred and quickly realized its' situation. With superhuman speed it jumped up and launched 4 of the men around it off their feet and they landed about 30 feet away. It then quickly turned around and fired its weapon at the other 5 around it. 2 of them managed to dodge the beam-like weapon, but the other 3 were not as perceptive.

The beam went through their bodies and some trees and cut them in half where they died instantly. The others opened fire, but the bullets just seemed to ricochet off of the aliens' armor, and the bullets came back at the ERSA members, killing some and wounding others. The platoon leader gave an order to retreat to get some distance from the hostile. The alien kept firing its' weapon killing at least 2 people each time it fired. Sensing an attack, the alien kept coming closer to the retreating soldiers. Seeing that they were being chased the soldiers threw grenades to at least stumble the creature. The alien jumped high in the air , avoiding the explosions, and landed on top of 2 soldiers, crushing their rib cages.

Their numbers dwindling, the soldiers gave one more desperate attempt to incapacitate their incoming enemy. With undertow grenade launchers, they all fired HE grenades at the enemy. This sudden attack did not give the alien time to think, thus the grenades struck and launched the enemy onto its' back. Sensing an opening one soldier jumped up onto its' chest, put his rifle onto the aliens' helmet, around the eyeshield, and released his remaining bullets, penetrating the helmet from point blank, successfully killing it.

When we arrived at the facility, the entire compound was reduced to rubble, save for the building at the extremities of the compound. We shifted through the rubble, but found only charred bodies. Later we found an audio diary from an unknown scientist describing the attack on the facility. We searched the rest of the buildings when Cpl. Ricardo Linked me saying they found an alien life form. Supposedly dead. We connected with HQ asking for further instructions. Orders from HQ were to prep the alien body for airlift out of there. When we touched its body it jolted upwards and seemingly in a single action launched 4 of my men 30 feet from where they were originally standing. Before I could blink it turned around and fired a beam from its arm killing 3 others who were standing behind it. We all opened fire on the creature, but its armor was too thick and it ended up ricocheting our bullets back towards us, killing some and wounding others. I ordered my men to fall back hoping to get enough distance between us and the alien to use explosives. The creature kept firing its beam, killing more and more of my men. It soon noticed us getting further away and sped to catch up to us. It gained speed at an extremely alarming rate. Desperate I ordered my men to ready their grenade launchers and wait for my signal. I turned and fired my grenade and took the enemy by surprise. It connected and soon more explosions followed. It fell on its back and a courageous soldier, Pvt. Michael Doto, took the chance to run up to it and empty his entire clip on the eye shield portion of the alien's helmet. It made a noise, like a last breath emptying from its lungs. It seemed that whatever the crystal did for the space crew, also seems to have done the trick with these creatures. I hope the alien corpse was worth it.
