Description
"...Before Ator could conquer the Spider Kingdom, he came under the spell of the beautiful witch Edu. A thousand year old enchantress, who called forth a horrible army of walking dead to slay him. Ator escaped, and captured the glistening charmed shield of Merdor..."A scene from the movie/Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode: Cave Dwellers. While this scene wasn't actually shown in the movie, you know it was there. Because Mila couln't have possibly cared about all the pointless (and ridiculous) details her father was telling her about Ator.
...Man, this was some poor writing. If it can even be called writing. They just summarized the previous movie, plot point by plot point. It was poorly presented, told us nothing that was relevent to this movie, and it completely spoiled that movie, just in case anyone watching this one felt any desire to seek out the previous one...

This is the part we like to call "she had to ask"

It would have been one thing if anything told to her in reply would haveΒ any bearing on what happened in this movie, but none of it did....

He's like my grandfather-no matter what the relevance to the current question, he'll just go on and on

The Gang: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Yeah, I went through a phase where I watched this one a lot. Probably because I've got a bit of a thing for high fantasy movies...

If I'm not mistaken, I think this movie was actually made without a script. I'm not totally sure, but it would explain a lot.

I think I read somewhere that they at least started that way. Some of the B movies are really sad...

At least they made good fodder for MST3K.

Servo: "This has more pauses than a Pinter play!"
I think the actor here thinks putting a lot of pauses in sentences and lots of enunciating equals "good acting". Sir Laurence Olivier he is not

...And yet, the actor raced through these lines like he was reading the fine print at the end of a radio ad. Very odd performance choices...

That's how every Ator movie starts; recapping the other movies. It's also a problem with our favorite Friend to Children.

Yeah, but I don't remember any of the Gamera movies having a recap that was this useless, nor that sounded this ridiculous. And this really stood out because it sounded soooooooo ridiculous...

...And the secret Decoder Ring! Geez, Tolkien couldn't even follow this!
I love how they poke at the tempo of the old guy. This was the very first episode I saw hosted by Joel, and it's still one of my favorites

And with the names--the way they lapsed into Dr. Seuss-style names! You've really got to be careful about that in fantasy movies.
First Joel movie, eh? Well, you picked a good one!

"I say.. you can drive a Mack truck through your cues! Tempo, tempo! Pick it up!"
I've actually been wanting to see the first Ator movie just to see if it's any better than this one
