I have the feeling that that film was trying to emulate Gremlins and do a comedy horror movie, but failed miserably.

Well, other than the inept security guard in the beginning whose fantasy was apparently to stand on stageΒ at a minor venue before a crowd of nobody and prance around for aboutΒ thirty seconds before doing a stage dive... I really can't think of anyone else myself.
