Β About 10 inches (25.4 cm) long, this guy could sit in the palm of your hand. It's first wingspan is about 8 in (20.3 cm) wide, and the second one is 5 in (12.7 cm) long. It weighs about 30 g.Β
This flyer is a nectavore, specializing in a flower with bifurcated nectar tubes evolved around the flyers split tongue needed to smell. The body is covered in a fuzzy iridescent coat. This coat can be fluffed up, and can be used to attract mates and intimidate rivals.
