Woa, this is really pretty! I hope you do more paintings like this, it's really nice. Understanding colors and how light and color effect each other can be pretty tough, but you seemed to have pulled it off really well here! Something that might be helpful is painting from life, it'll really help you out especially with landscape type things like this! It's better to use a ref than just make it up; I guarantee you will understand colors better from doing this :]

Thanks. I actually did use reference for this, a screenshot from Spirited Away. That movie is really inspiring.
