Description
Yes, I was supposed to be working on a webcomic script last night, but 1) I'd gotten frustrated to the point of loathing the material, and 2) this was one of those very vivid/distracting visuals, inspired by stuff 's been working on. So I spent the evening blowing off steam.Music cue for this piece here: [link] (WMA format)

The runes along the mirror's edge abruptly surged to life and the mist cleared from the image. Azalea drew back in shock, her grip on the Rainbow Angel tightening. For what she saw in the mirror was a girl clad in revealing black leather, with long hair that changed from black to white. She was as black as Azalea was colorful; in fact the only real color came from the lightning bolts arcing from three of her four hands, and from the faint gleam of her icy cold, angry eyes. The demonic sword in her fourth hand looked every bit an opposite of the Rainbow Angel too.
But what really disturbed Azalea was the black shadow with the gleaming gold eyes, looming behind her dark doppelganger... Why was she there? Why??
She was only dimly aware of her Magnosyphons beginning to flare brightly as the dark girl's lightning grew more intense......

Alright a fight between doppelgangers, those are always awesome. I love that evil twin and the sword she's holding as well as that Rainbow sword Azalea is holding, it's called the Rainbow Angel right? I'd like to see how this fight turns out, oh god I want to hold those swords. I notice Kal in the background...or is that an illusion created by the mirror?

Well it certainly looks like Kal, though one wonders why she only appears in the mirror and only as a sinister shadow. Is it just part of the twisted illusion the mirror created based on Azzy's deepest emotions, or is it a warning?
Azzy's sword is indeed called Rainbow Angel. Its dark doppenganger is a short runeblade called Bloodroot. The Angel's a purifier, the Bloodroot steals lifeforce. Need to work on a drawing that shows the Bloodroot in greater detail.

Ah, good to see the complete work. As usual, the colorization and small detail of the runes on the mirror are done very well. One thing I notice is that it seems like we should be able to see at least part of Azalea's top left hand.

Very well done. I've always been a fan concepts such as this. The idea that each of us has our own inner demons that we either face... or embrace.

A very nice piece of work. I would to see the alter Azalea go head to head with the real Azalea. That would be an interesting scene indeed.

Azzy certainly seems to think so.
Whether it is her, or just a perception of her as the inhabitants of that world see her, has yet to be revealed.

*Mancy looks into it. Shows her with D on the ground, tied up in silk as she stand above him in a dominatrix outfit* Uwww! I think I'll be keeping this.

Actually that mirror was crafted by someone/something else, but it's responding to Azalea's own deepest fears about her situation, and the influence of the Dark Goddess can be felt there, so she shows up as a deadly shadow lurking behind. (Probably doesn't help that the demonologists of that world apparently see her as a vicious soul-eater.

It's a nice pic, though I have to admit that my first thoughts were that it was a frightening idea. Then with some more time and a bit more of looking at it, I started to wonder.... What kind of mirror is this exactely?

The mirror's enchantment makes it show the darkest aspects of whoever looks into it. In Azzy's case it shows what it might be like if she'd let her rage (and her lightning) go uncontrolled and if she held nothing but hate and contempt for everyone who ever feared and/or picked on her. And the angelic sword's reflection becomes a similarly demonic rune-blade.
Usually these are just illusions dragged up from the person's deep subconscious fears, with no physical basis in reality. But every once in a while it will show someone/something that really does exist. Or it will show a dark future that might be possible if no one intervened.
So the big question is, was this just an illusion?
