ARTIST’S NOTES!
    Okay! I'm not used to drawing implied or just straight curly hair. I prefer fluffy and straight hair, so curly hair is going to take practice! Button's hair was a struggle because I had to trace the silhouette to get the shapes I needed. Her forelock was a struggle because I wanted it to be its own thing, since Horseland kind of has the horses with long forelocks that go to the sides of their faces. Alma was a struggle because of the pose. I wanted her to be reading a book and I feel confident that I translated that.
STORY ATTACHED!
    Alma Rodriguez comes from a close-knit Mexican-American family! While still living in Mexico, her grandfather gave her a medallion when she was young, then when she was older, she and her family moved to America. Her father, who is also the manager at Horseland, taught her how to ride horses and she often uses Spanish words in her speech. She's the best jumper at Horseland and loves to read books. She also applies the information she learns from reading to real-life scenarios! Alma also turns out to be a strong swimmer.
    Button is a Tobiano Paint mare who has been with Alma for 5 years. She has a Mexican accent because she lived in Mexico with the Rodriguez family before moving to the US. Button loves to please Alma and often works hard to do so. When completing tasks, she becomes focused and patient, including doing whatever it takes to get the job done. Even if that means working in the pouring rain or going from jump to jump. Button is very friendly and wants to make friends! Her best friend is Calypso, whose stable is right next to hers. They often talk and tease each other, including having each other's backs! However, she does get a bit of a temper when Pepper and Chilli make snide comments and wants to shut them down quickly. But that doesn't stop her from joking and teasing them because she wants to play with all the horses. When Button gets scared, she'll run off to safety, leaving everything behind if she's alone, but staying and fending off danger if she's in a group. It doesn't take much to calm her down, though.
