A volatile liquid makes up this world's "atmosphere," suffocating/drowning anyone breathing it in.

Raindrops the size of train cars can come from any direction. The supersonic winds carrying them transform them into projectiles capable of destroying ether-ships.

The pressure in certain areas gets high, turning the surrounding liquid into solid ice and crushing any objects caught in the latter.

The atmosphere and global ocean bleed into one another, constantly trading places. The only form of solid surface here comes in the form of small islands plagued by earthquakes.

Skyscraper-tall "Chimeric Waves" can also appear from anywhere. They smash into ships, overturning them, swallowing their crews, and drowning them. These forces of nature will transform the drowned ones into aquatic slaves, using them to lure in more victims.

Humongous, serpentine waterspouts can swallow ether-ships. Half of them have sharp objects "lining" their interiors, making them gigantic meat grinders.

Whirlpools shaped like sea anemones infest many areas. These can drag down vessels with their pulling force aided by their prehensile tentacles.

This world's biosphere consists of aquatic, hyper-carnivorous megafauna. These organisms either hunt for food or wait for it to come to them. Some of these predators are gigantic enough to swallow ether-ships whole. Some either use shapeshifting or hypnotic sounds to catch their unsuspecting prey.
