Description Man, I come back to this piece like 2 years later and it's on the first page of Google Images when you search "Megaman Trigger." I don't know what to say. Thanks Google!~

Also, I'm trying again at this Megaman cosplay thing. Maybe I'll actually do it this time.

Old description:
Man, I loved Mega Man Legends. I borrowed it from a friend for the N64, and played the crap out of it... then found it for PC, but good old XP made it barely playable.

My favorite part about it wasn't the great story or voice acting, awesome as those were... I loved the ruins. The tunnels that you have to go through... but they're so freaky, you don't want to. You just know that, as soon as you go around that corner, some crazy robot is going to blow you off your feet. Then you go around the corner, and there's nothing there. Then, when you've let your guard down, you go back the way you came and a crazy robot blows you off your feet. You then have to run away while shooting it with everything you've got. It was like classic Mega Man gameplay meets Resident Evil paranoia / survival horror. I've been trying to beat Mega Man 2 since I was just a wee lad, and only played Resident Evil 1 and 4, but man, was that an awesome combination of influences. I love this game. It would make a fantastic anime series / OVA.

Unless I run into too many engineering hassles, I'm going to be cosplaying as Mega Man Trigger at Otakon '08 on Saturday. I'm planning to show up at the Rockman group photos at Starbucks, if I get there early enough. This will be my first experience both in cosplay and in cons, so hopefully I won't have any horrific mishaps. I'd love to meet people there, so let me know if you'll be going and we'll see what happens.

This was... a really fast art project. Took about three and a half hours from start to finish - the last hour was experimentation with lighting and background effects. I settled on my usual heavy shadows and vibrant colors style. This seems to be my first time cel-shading in a while now, huh? I don't care for it too much, since it just seems too... easy. I like how it looks, but I always prefer the hands-on approach. It made for a lot less headache, though, so I suppose I'll do some cel-shading for the next few ideas I've got in my head.

Mega Man is © Capcom.

Indeed. Imagine if they had classic Megaman in the gameplay of Legends! That'd be too much for the mortal gamer!

Hell. Yes.

I thought I was the only one who loved this series. I love the overworlds, especially that area outside Katalox. You leave the city and the music stops... and even though it's this nice peaceful meadowy place, it's still a little freaky cuz you're all alone out there. Just the little stuff like that. Ahh... I could go for hours talking about this.

Yeah man. That game was something else. I'm really glad that they keep letting it cameo in Capcom crossovers... that means there's still hope of a new Legends game. At least, I hope so.

MostAcidic In reply to ArcZero [2008-08-01 17:38:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, other game companies keep trying to purchase the license and they refuse to sell. Why else would they do that if they didn't plan to continue the series?

Or maybe I'm just overly hopeful...

They oughtta make a Megaman Legends 3.
I read somewhere long ago that they had plans for it, but I never heard anything afterwards.

Maybe they were just rumors...but we can all dream, right?
This was a great franchise. It can really go places, I think.

Awesome drawing, man! Trigger is just a nightmare to draw, so I am muchly impressed.

I love the glow effect coming from behind. The dynamic shadows really bring out the Resident Evil feel you talked about.

I love that game too.
Why has the second one disappeared from the face of the earth?!

Thanks for the kind words. I'd like to know the same thing about MML2. I never had a PlayStation back then, but even if I did now, I don't know how hard it would be to snag a copy... off to eBay!

Don't play Megaman, except in Marvel vs. Capcom. And although he isn't cute here, he's pretty cool, in a Danny Phantomesque sort of way.

One word for you, Zero: EPIC!!!! And that's not even ENOUGH to describe this (I really like this pic, XD). This is well done, in my opinion. (ofcourse, I'm not good at drawing, so I'd probably say all your drawings are good, X])
Hmm...I never played the game before. Is it really good?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArcZero In reply to JewlzTheHedgehog [2008-06-20 02:51:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks much! I thought the game was great - it depends on your taste in genres. If you like the combination of RPG and adventure, with a little bit of platforming, then you ought to love it. It reminded me of Super Mario RPG quite a bit, really, just with a way different world and atmosphere... and no turn-based combat. Good stuff.

So, it IS good (according to you, anyway). ...I want to play it now T_T... *puts another game in the long list of games that she always wanted to play* T^T

Very nice, Zero. I've been playing Megaman 64 the last few weeks so I know this guy all too well. Lol, will you be drawing Roll too? She's the best looking Roll, in my opinion.

ArcZero In reply to Sol-Domino [2008-06-19 17:33:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I agree, Roll looked her best in Legends / 64... she had personality, too. I don't really plan to, but who knows, I might just do the cast of Legends 1...

when you make the Cosplay, you simply MUST make the arm cannon with a light in it. it'll definately be a challenge but if you don't I will hate you for it. with Megaman, it's ALL or NOTHING!

Don't Mess with The MAN!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArcZero In reply to Foxin [2008-06-18 04:36:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm thinking that a light-up buster would be the icing on the cake... or is it the meat and potatoes? Either way, that would be the ultimate costume gimmick for a true hardcore Mega Man cosplay. I'm already drawing up plans for putting a light in there...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Foxin In reply to ArcZero [2008-06-19 04:20:02 +0000 UTC]

Yes! Do It! Do it and you will rule all!!!

btw. the Meat and Potatoes is ... well, it's another name for MY Buster Cannon. lol. either way, you were right the first time with with Icing on the cake.

Maybe making the Arm cannon Detacheable/replaceable with a simple Arm Cannon Sleeve that way you can still use that hand when yo're not showing off your Big Gun.

AHM CHARGIN MA LAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!

ArcZero In reply to Foxin [2008-06-19 04:44:58 +0000 UTC]

I talked to some other cosplayers / Mega Man fans today, and they suggested simply making the Buster arm piece slide forward, so my hand + glove can fit in there. Then I could fold out some light-up LCD deal.

Foxin In reply to ArcZero [2008-06-19 05:08:56 +0000 UTC]

what would be sweet is If you could make a Replica of the Battery unit for Tony Stark's Iron Man suits and fit it inside the Cannon. it really wouldn't be that hard in theory. a small glass ashtray fitted over a tuna can containing a few LED lights. the battery for which you'd have to work out with your cosplay friends as I know nothing about wiring and batteries outside of a small copper project in 4th grade. I'm sure technology has evolve in the, what, 15 years since that grade?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArcZero In reply to Foxin [2008-06-19 06:16:47 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. Yes, that's the principle I'm going for - a flat light panel, probably with LEDs, much like Tony Stark's reactor thingy. Yeah, I'm basically going to be operating on some elementary school electronics knowledge... hope it doesn't catch on fire or anything.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Foxin In reply to ArcZero [2008-06-21 18:03:08 +0000 UTC]

maybe you could dismantle a bunch of keychain LED lights and cross connect them to a single button. that might work and you'd have ample battery powah!!!

Anyway let me say you that it's hard check some details of the drawing with that shading so dark

You think it's too dark? Maybe I could lighten up the shading a bit...
