Been watching a youtube channel called "The great war" which is doing week by week episodes about WW1 a hundred years later to give people a scale of time just how long the war really wasSo thought I'd try to draw a few sketches of WW1 style pics of the crystal war from Season's 6's finale, Going to need to change around the background a bit with some crystal spires everywhere or maybe with some other ponies in the trench under it's treads idk
Just figured I should post something since I really haven't been able to get many pics past sketching

The Great War is one of my favorite YouTube series! I still have a lot of catching up to do on it (still in 1915).
I never thought of comparing WWI to the Crystal War, but the more I think of it, the more I love the idea.

I'm mostly caught up with it, a little behind.
But I LOVE that channel, I've never had anything before that really taught me about WW1.
It's kind of brushed under the rug over here in the states

I feel you on that! The conflict is surprisingly more diverse and active than the old stereotype they reuse in universities (and I went to a university that supplied a lot of US officers when America entered the war).

WW1 was just such a mess in general
Everything was just so silly when you look back on it.Β
Like how many wars have a squad of men mounted on bicycles charging with pistols and carbines because of the shortage of horsesΒ

We were experimenting with so many new tools and concept, as well as discovering how the old ones did not work so well anymore.
This was humanity going from traditional to modern warfare the hard and painful way.
