The Doctor holding Derpy as she dies.....I'm sorry derpy, I'm so sorry
So originally I was going to draw some flutterbat or something, but then my dad made me super depressed, so you can blame him for me doing this picture.

Makes it SUPER DEPRESSING.
Edit: Looks like someone decided to make a short fanfic based on this, wow I didn't expect thatΒ RainIt was all her fault. She shouldn't have jumped in. She shouldn't have tried to save him.

...It was all his fault. He should have been more careful, should have seen the danger coming, should have felt it in his...hooves. (it was still weird thinking of himself as a pony instead of a human, a weird sort of jolt that made him pause before lurching forward with his train of thought)
It was raining now. Tears streamed down his face as he cradled his golden haired companion, her light grey coat darkening as the rain fell upon the two of them.
The creature that had killed her, lay dead in the bushes, not far from where they were. (it had been a manticore...now, it was just another corspe whose blood was on his hooves)
"I'm sorry," He whispered into her golden mane. "It was all my fault. I'm sorry."

The newer doctor who season have had this underlining sadness to them, especially David Tennant. Like under all that quirkiness and quick wit is a sad broken shell of a timelordΒ

Psh, he's the Doctor. Death does not become him, and sometimes it's in the depths of that despair where the opportunity is found. That said, it does look like she has a smile on her lips there. As for the drawing itself, nice work on it. The tears pooled in his eye could be tweaked a bit, I think, and their "wetness" from the rain could possibly be emphasized a bit more (in the manes, etc), but then, I 'm not sure how long they've been out there. All told, despite the origin of the inspiration for this piece, nice work.

At first I was going to show her all beaten up, but I thought it would have been sweeter if she had died peacefully in his hooves.
And I wasn't too sure how to do the rain wet look, first time I've tried that xDΒ

The effect on her hoof and his forehead conveys it quite well. I think, spread to a few more places (an odd mix of randomness and uniformity) it would help. For example, his hoof looks relatively dry in comparison. Also, for as wet as their coats look, their manes seem unaffected by the water. I would imagine, with the water on their bodies, their hair would be weighed down as well, or at least in Derpy's case, not sticking up so much from the top of her head. I'm not sure how much product the Doctor uses (always seemed to have some good spikes going in the show). For as vague of a suggestion as it is, I think a bit more "weight" on the hair would help convey the wetness.
