It is hard to get realistic lighting and shadow from imagination. Just do some more studies and practicing and you will get it soon enough . This is good though so I wouldn't beat yourself up
. Watch you because his face is all yellow/oranges... if light is hitting him there would be subsurface scattering. There would also be more blues in the shadow side (shadows in general). For faces in general... the top 3rd of the face has more greens, middle has more reds, bottom has more blue/greys due to facial hair etc. It is subtle but that is generally it

wow, thank you very much for your advice. I should do more study from a photo or real life. Actually your explanation of subsurface was true, I should have realized it from beginning. Now his face looks so orange to me, lol. I might be try again in my other painting though. anyway thank you very much!

Not a problem ... But yeah that kind of stuff just comes with practice. I am still learning myself haha
. One thing actually which helped me get dynamic colours on the face if you haven't done already is ... on photoshop in the brush panel... enable colour dynamics and turn hue jitter to 5%.. you can get tiny little colour shifts that make it more 'rich' so to speak
