Excerpt from Star Wars & Star Trek TNG A Galaxy Far, Far Away by Patrick Morris and Rob Strangman, Chapter 13:

"The Chair recognizes the Senator from the sovereign system of Alderaan," Mon Mothma said. With a start, Picard realized that the congressional box that they were in was moving through the air, heading for the platform in the center of the chamber. It stopped several feet from the platform and hovered in place. Now that they were up close, Picard could see the three figures on the platform quite clearly. One was Mon Mothma, the second was a droid that had called the meeting to order, and the third was an red-skinned, fishlike alien in a white military uniform. Leia stood to face Mon Mothma.

"Supreme Chancellor, delegates of the Senate," she said. "Recently a group of representatives from the United Federation Of Planets requested an audience with the Senate. They claim that a group of beings that is one of the sworn enemies of their Federation, the Borg, are attempting to invade our galaxy."

This causes a murmur of discussion to ripple through the Senate. Leia paused for a second, then continued.

"The authorized representative of the United Federation Of Planets, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, is here to plead his case and request our assistance in defeating the Borg."

Picard stood up and stepped forward to face Mon Mothma. A smattering of applause could be heard echoing through the Senate chamber.

"Honorable representatives of the New Republic," Picard began, "distinguished delegates, and Your Honor, Supreme Chancellor Mon Mothma, I come to you under the gravest of circumstances. Recently my ship, the U.S.S. Enterprise, was brought to your galaxy by an omnipotent being known as Q."
