Description
It takes little to imagine any zoanthropic strain as nothing more than a hungering, slavering, devouring monster bent upon tearing life and limb free of its prey, yet such a perception is, by and far, erroneous despite this. While most strains neither abide by such qualities nor do naturalized zoanthropes in general, the pervasive idea abroad in media is gravely over represented - courtesy of the common afflicted lycanthrope of which most are "familiar" with. There is however, some truth in the matter of man-eating shapeshifters... the weretiger being one of them.As with the nigh unstoppable fury weretigers exhibit when frenzied or enraged, these ailuranthropes have a taste for human blood, suppressed only by force of will. The supernatural propensity for violence in their strain, accompanied by their tremendous strength even among other zoanthropes, make them a competent and deadly hunter with their keen predatory instinct. These elements combined lead to cases where even the most disciplined weretigers will "break"; a momentary lapse in control wherein they succumb to their rage and the inner "hunger". This hungering is less a physical desire and more a psychological manifestation of their blood-curse, being a form of more vicious rage that accompanies true vengeance. After the successful kill of their target during this mindset, the weretiger is prone to eating their human prey - some avoiding doing so only by their awareness of having previously done so and recognizing they are about to preform the act once more.
This said, even afflicted weretigers are "born" killers; their strain among the very apex of the beasts of supernature. Few, fortunately, embrace the violence and hunger within, tempering their enormous zoanthropic power with restraint and comprehension.
One of many reasons to approach weretigers with particular added caution.
A stylized sketch of Asher Tybalt forced by rage into his weretiger form and consumed by the supernatural fury within produced by Zibyr.

And of course, there are those who would rather give in and be the monster they always wanted to be. Nice work on the pose and posture. : )

I could not agree more, albeit I myself often debate whether most zoanthropes are truly monsters or just beasts of nature. I suppose a bit of both really, but I digress - thank you for the comment, although I am not the artist, I am sure he would be pleased to know you enjoy his rendition of my character.

That's a very intelligent way to put it; after all, the whole story of the wolfman came from a merging of man's nature and the nature of the beast. You're quite welcome too. A shame the artist's account here is closed. I'd have liked to have told them their work is very good.

I bet if he tried to catch a dragon that also wants him, that would be an awesome battle.

Avoiding a dragon is usually the safest means to dealing with them; there's a pretty significant disparity in ability between zoanthropes and dragons in terms of ability.

It's also the option with the lowest chance of payoff. Unless I'm the only dragon that would consider hunting along side a zoanthrope, I imagine trying to roll with a dragon could very well be a mistake worth making. You can look at me and tell I am doing well.

Dragons can be harder to catch than anticipated.

My zoanthropes are admittedly inspired slightly by the older Bloody Roar series, albeit they have no actual relation beyond that.
Thank you for the comment!

Bloody Roar was one of my earliest experiences with the idea of anthropomorphism many, many years ago. That said, I borrowed some elements for my own use, even to this day.

I find many mainstream audiences still cling to pretty established ideas; the thought of a "weretiger" is somehow novel and often too bizarre to them despite it and many other zoanthropes existing in established folklore. Even Whitewolf built upon what was already present.

Zibyr used a very interest approach to these sketches and with more detail than I ever imagined. They were a tremendous surprise and I am pleased to know they are so enjoyed.
