Description

I wanted a painting of a scary clown behind a character in an image I was planning – and then this happened I had so much fun making the clown outfit and creating the character.

Mortimer – the Giddy Clown: G2M, M6, G6, G2M face and body morphs. Vascular and Aging HD morphs.

Outfit made in MD2 and Hexagon.

Shoes from Daz3d

Character rendered in Poser

Doorway, picture frames and floor made in Hexagon.

Photos by master photographer

Background rendered in Vue

Postwork in Photoshop.

Extrasolar is created with modern day adventurer- who in this very moment is out urban exploring jrmalone

The weekly theme over at is "In the shadows" and I hope you will join me and Mortimer there (ends August 3rd, 7am pacific time)

I've been a fan of most of your stuff since I first stumbled upon your page, from the classic movie style of it, to the layouts of the imaging. Though this is in a different vein to what normally catches my eye, it looks so real... nicely done.

Thank you very much for your one words! You make me blush I have my comfort zone, but I like to flirt with horror and the macabre. (Not slash and gore, at least not yet)

your extremely talented/skilled and deserving of the warm words. I to prefer fantasy/sci-fi settings, but this was too good to pass on. I'll definitely keep an eye out for future works in the genre.

Thanks for the link - useful!
Poser to me is really overwhelming. Is it easy to figure out? I would really love being able to create my own characters and stuff.

You are young, you learn things quickly I think poser is a wonderful and intuitive program, but it could just be because I have been playing with it instead of Daz Studio. I tried to learn Daz Studio, but I never really got it. (Like I get confused by android, but feel comfortable with an iPhone ) Thr thing is, if you learn Daz Studio (which is free and have an amazing render engine) you don't need Poser. There is extra work to get characters after Genesis 2 into Poser and the way you work with materials are different. I just do what I feel comfortable with, but you can do a lot of cool stuff in DazStudio, that you can't do in poser.Β

Now that's a creepy clown alright! It also reminds me that the new IT movie should come out soon. I bet it were the countless kids birthday parties that drove Mortimer slightly mad in the end. Β

You are so kind! Thank you. Yes, poor Mortimer snapped, but look at him, still smiling I showed the wip to and he sent the trailer for the new "IT". I almost threw my phone away any the end, because I got so scared Must see

Aye, I'm carefully optimistic myself! Past reboots/remakes haven't really done much to earn my trust but the trailer looks like this one might be on a good track. Let's hope and see!

I am not one of those people scared by clowns... til now! I love how you always bring it... style, technique, character, mood and compelling images. This is a terrific character! Really an outstanding scene all around from set to lighting to costume to character. I do have the tiniest criticism though... that's not how you hold a balloon. It should not be a fully closed fist but rather thumb should be pressing against a not quite fully closed forefinger to hold the string.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ariel-X In reply to leroysquab [2017-07-31 06:25:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for your kind words, Lance. I wrote on Facebook that the balloon was the hardest thing to do- and that was no joke Everything about it was like Oceans Eleven. I made a "keep it in place with your Β finger tip-fist" and can honestly say that the concept of how to hold a balloon just flew out of my brain at that moment I had the hand in Hexagon as a reference for height andΒ  all the time I felt how it "slipped through my fingers", but I was too occupied trying to create the right shape of the balloon. When that was done I wanted the string to seem stretched above the hand and relaxed under. The thing I thought would be the easiest turned out to be a horrible quest. I don't know how many strings I made until I finally was like: Michelangelo! That is amazing, where do I collect the balloon string modeling award!!!!??? I render my poser images without background, so they have a white edge when I open them in Photoshop. Being lazy, I found that the simplest way to remove it is to make a selection, contract it by two pixels, inverse and delete... but then my string almost disappeared- from beyond the grave it found a way to haunt me. Long story short: I hade to mask out the string, but, I wondered why I didn't just painted it? Β

Thank you again, and I am sorry for this- behind the scenes novel

Thanks for sharing that great story,Β BjΓΆrn! I'm always amazed at how you nail all the details, large and small so it's good hear a bit of behind the scenes. I have been there myself at times with what seemed like some tiny detail going into an image which ends up being the most troublesome part!

However, I would think unless I were in this location by accident I don't think I would otherwise bump into this clown.
