Wow, this is phenomenal! You have a really interesting process, I typically outline/ink everything (including the background, usually) before I move on to colors. Maybe I should try it your way sometime

Thank you! Usually I actually finish the character completely before moving onto the background, but in this case I thought it would be better to integrate the background earlier. I also didn't have a sketch for the background, otherwise I probably would have inked it out too!

Well this process seemed to work out well for your pic! Your background is the perfect color to allow your subject, Chunky, to both blend in and stand out

Well cool! Whatever I did, I guess it's workin' Haha seriously though, I spent hours trying to figure out that background, I probably looked at 3 dozens pictures of savannahs in Africa. Glad to hear that it paid off!

Lol oh I know how that feels, believe me because honestly, a background can either make or break the picture.
