This animation is pretty amazing. However, at the beginning, where the cat is zoomed in, you'll notice that the legs seem to be running separately, which is just a tad confusing, while at the end of the animation you see that the back legs running together in coordination and the front legs also running together, which is different from how the cat runs at the beginning. The zoomed-out view of the cat is pretty good, but I think the cat needs a little more motion- if you had a view of the body at the beginning, I think that it might be moving up and down a little more (oh yeah dancing), and I think the cat ran out of the frame a little too fast, as it seems to speed up a little a split second after zooming out. All in all, very good job!

I really love the zoom-out effect, and the animation is quite smooth at the beginning, however it gets a little choppy at the end, and also the paw shape and leg length get a little wonky. I think it would look a lot better if you kept the lines on the paws (like the ones at the beginning) on the whole time, that way the perspective the paws doesn't get confusing (there's 2 or 3 frames where it looks like the hind right foot is facing straight towards the viewer, but from the position of the cat that would be physically impossible). Also, At the start of the animation each paw created a ripple, but towards the end, only 1 or 2 paws make ripples. When I look at it closely, it looks more like you tried to have each paw make a ripple, but the ripple colors blent with the background and it was hard to see.

Lovely piece of animation! The paws move pretty realistically, although their movement does seem to speed up slightly (not in a good way, in a sort of choppy way) once the animation has mostly zoomed out--but that's a really minor quibble. The tail movement is perfectly natural and looks great with the way the cat is moving. I like the little detail that you can see the cat's paw pads on one paw for the first couple of frames. Adds a bit of realism. You also did a great job with the zoom--I can never figure out how to zoom smoothly (especially zooming in/out of one spot) the way you did. And the background, of course, is really beautiful! Sort of impressionistic.

Color, you can achieve the pan out by doing the animation and background on seperate layers and saving them as seperate files. In premier pro, and other programs that support multiple layers of video, you can have the background animation pan out behind the main animation.

I animate on Flash, though, and there's no option like that.

Ah, flash is one program I haven't used out of the CS6 suite(I have an awesome friend who got me the whole shebang!) CS4? I might be able to sniff out a tutorial. I'm good at finding them.

I got the whole CS6 through my dad's work This is cool because that means I have the whole CS6 but annoying sometimes because everyone wants to know how much Flash and Photoshop cost and I have to tell them I don't know ;w;

Firstly, this animation is smooth and good- something I cannot achieve, so first of all I'd like to praise your hard work ^^
Next, the overall movement of the running cat is good, but perhaps you could have added out one last frame with the body more stretched? The background is nice, it draws the attention to the cat in contrast. However, I notice the paws are all grey at the beginning but as they lengthen out the cat's paws altogether are tinged green at the end. I don't know if it's intentional, but it's a bit confusing. Also, the ripples are a nice touch, yet on the last set of steps the front paws do not leave any. The ripples are good if the lake is frozen with a small layer of water on top, but a splash or spray would have been more dramatic and in character with the running cat; frozen lake (and especially at night with cool colors in abundance) to me suggests more pairing in with calm, collected walking, but a lake in full daylight on a warm-looking day more suits running and splashing. I notice the 'mouth' you have given this cat though, a sort of grimace or frown, so the 'feeling'or atmosphere of this is not too disrupted by the motion. I also like how you zoomed out the background to keep a sense of motion rather than just having a cat run across the screen. Sorry if I sounded harsh in any way, but I still love this cool little animation! <3

This is really pretty! However, the run cycle looks very confined, like the cat is more of a horse.

Whoa. Cool. I'd recommend making the cat's run cycle a little wider. By that I mean that is stretches out more while in the air. It looks a little too... how do I say... vertical.

I don't really have enough to put into a critique but I think that once the picture is fully zoomed out the animation looks a bit . . awkward? because it appears to be turning slightly but once it's zoomed out the turning motion is completely lost.Β
Also there was one spot where you forgot to put the ripples in the water.Β
But other than that this is a really good animation and I love it~!!

might just be me trying to make excuses for myself
but after i exported the image the colors on the bg kinda changed and its made the one ripple hard to see, but i think its there hahaa i should have made them a different color though
and the zooming out was so weird, there were so many things that went wrong (most i didnt realize until you or someone else pointed them out) but thats why we post things (: to improve!
Thank you so much!
