Description I think I'm getting good at making these relatively quickly. The trick is to render clouds with black and white, posterize them, pick which color will be the land and which will be the ocean (black or white), and then color the continents in a lighter shade of blue than the oceans, blur them, mix the lighter blue in with the oceans to create shallow-looking water, and make sure to mix brown and green for the continent colors. And of course, use shape3D, add a layer of black with some colorless noise for the stars, and a colored circle in a layer behind the planet with a Gaussian blur for the atmospheric glow.

Of course, I skipped some steps for the clouds this time, opting only to use a simple cloud function with the primary color as white and the secondary "color" as transparent. I suppose If I want to have ice caps, I'll have to color those areas in manually.

And I skipped the lighting on this one. That said, the base image for this one (the flat map) is twice the size of the other hospitable planets I've made (this one is 1600 x 1200).

EDIT: Does anyone think this could use a thicker-looking atmosphere?

Hello:
This is a very nicely done planet! I can see that it is bright like it is closer to it's sun (but still in the safety of the Goldilock's zone), so I think it can be like Venus would have been .

 Very cool!

It looks alright, although the clouds were just thrown on. That, and this place almost looks like it is glowing.

Hello:
Well, still not glowing enough to look like a radioactive planet . But it's brightness is why I mentioned it could be closer to it's star, like Venus is from the Sun, so it receives much more light.

I'm still trying to remember what settings I used to get it like this, color-wise.

Uh-oh, I hope you'll do because the colors are very nice on this one, and they may look good with darker settings aswell. Good luck!

I'm sure I will remember it or figure it out.

Yup, I know because I have been several times in this same problem .

I may just write it down in a notepad or something.

Yup, that is what I generally do, so I have setting saved when doing textures for my 3d models. But that works for anything.

Another alternative may be to svae snapshots? like print-screen and saving them in paint? .

That would require a LOT of screens. It's not just one layer, one screen, one tool, or even one setting for the same tool. I use the same tool more than once, plus some other tools, such as clouds, random line generators, dents, blurs, and others.

Then I guess screenshooting would take you more time and more HDD space than the pics themselves .

Anyways, good luck for you to find a method to remember everything .
