Let me just say that transparent gradients are a big help. The .gif format isn't perfect, but relatively little detail has been lost. I could never have imagined I'd be making something like this as little as six months ago. Well, maybe eight months, as of this writing (November 2014).Related content

But I was thinking to protect it from solar radiation, since Mars does not have an electromagnetic field and also no Ozone layer. So a protection like this one could make things so much easier and faster for the people terraforming the planet

Or just testing the forcefield. That said, if anyone lives there, it's probably some sort of military base. It's not a very hospitable planet.
