Description

Aldakshi form reference for Dark because the other one was waaaayyyy old. Really happy with how this turned out - though I noticed he looks really cool without any red markings while I was colouring this! Meh. This ref includes his Aldakshi traits, since it wasn't really relevant on his Shiling form.

Personality:
Dark is a fairly happy individual. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and is eager to learn from his tutors. He is very active and energetic, sometimes to the point of being annoying.
He is often roped in to doing things he would otherwise never consider doing by Malik – usually something that will get them both in trouble. Because of this he is considered a bit of a trouble maker and an idiot. He is brave and loyal though not particularly clever. He will generally try and tackle a problem head on instead of thinking it through.
Dark can be very shy and awkward, becoming embarrassed easily which is often made worse by Malik. However when he truly believes in something he will stand up for himself no matter who he is up against.
Prone to wandering off by himself to lie about in the sun.

History:
Dark is a human born Aldakshi.
He was raised in a very small human settlement in the west – though he has no idea where it's location falls on the map. He was the oldest child and had two sisters who were one and three years younger than him respectively.
Dark was a happy child, though easily scared and quite clingy with his mother who tended to coddle him. His father was proud of Dark's strength compared to that of other children in the village but had little time for him.
When Dark started showing signs of the Turning at age six his father didn't hesitate to throw him out of the house, afraid of what the villagers would think if they knew. His mother was distraught and pleaded with his father to let him stay, which eventually ended up with him being allowed back into the house.
After a few months of secretly living with his parents Dark's Aldakshi features began to start coming through, causing his younger sisters to become afraid of him. Even his mother who had protested at casting him out began to grow distant, calling him darkling and avoiding physical contact with him.
During this time his father grew more and more wary of Dark and finally drove him out of the house, chasing the young boy all the way from the village.
Dark tried to remain close to the settlement, but eventually the small supply of food he had been given ran out. The villagers – having learned of what happened- came out of their way to throw things at him and try to chase him off. It was only when one of the villagers threatened him with a knife that he actually entered the forest proper.
He wandered for days, gaining many cuts and scrapes, getting more and more terrified when he was finally found by an Aldakshi patrol. At first he tried to run from them. He had grown up hearing stories about cursed monsters in the wild places of the world and even though he was becoming one of them he was still scared.
The patrol shadowed him for a further three days, carefully placing food for him to find without being seen and making sure no larger predators came into contact with him.
On the fourth day one of the Aldakshi approached Dark and offered to take him somewhere safe. Tired, scared, hungry and alone Dark finally went with them.
His first few months in the Tiding were hard. He barely spoke, hardly ate and flinched whenever anyone came too close to him. He was put into a house with the Aldakshi who had bought him to the Tiding and eventually accepted them as his adopted family.
Dark spent the next few years growing used to the Tiding's customs and learning about being an Aldakshi.
