So I've had this idea for an icon for a while now, finally got around to doing it. hehe decided to use 's Bateared fox character and 's character.Overall I'm very happy with the outcome. You see, this the first full animation I've done in any medium, and the fact that it's turned out so well any the animated wings move so smoothly makes me really proud of it.
Details on the animation, the wing flaps have 7 unique frames, the full animation is 8 frames, the only repeated wing frame is the top and bottom which is really just the same thing flipped. For this reason I'm pretty proud of it. I could probably add animation details to the frames for the characters but, man what I have done was hard enough as is. But at least I managed to accomplish my initial goal!

I love the transition on the wings. How id you do it? I tried to do something similar for a game of mine and failed miserably compared to this.

well I first sketched out the idea as well as all the wing frames. Then I used my sketches as a guide to help me get the pixeling right and put it together in Image Ready and that's pretty much it.

both characters' parts need to be animated ..
as far as the upper character goes ups and down due to the flight movement ..
the tail, the ears, the legs should be pulled to up and down too ..

Yes, that's some smooth wing motion you've got there! Very well done!
All that's missing now is some motion in other parts of the image; just add a little wind and inertia to the tails and it will be perfect!

Reminds me of Sonic and Tails attempting the air battle in level 3, where Tails carries Sonic, while he has to leap out of tails' grasp to kill Robotnic.
